Exploring how The Penguin sets up The Batman - Part II
The Bat Signal
The Penguin season finale ends with Oswald Cobb finally becoming the new Kingpin of Gotham. After a brutal standoff with Sofia Falcone and making sure that she is arrested, no one is standing in Oswald's way now - except Batman. While Batman himself doesn't show up in the series, the Bat Signal is shown to be lit up in the sky, indicating that he may be coming for Oswald.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter following the release of the episode, Colin Farrell revealed that he will be appearing in The Batman - Part II as Oswald Cobb once more. He also teased that he will be having around "five or six scenes" in the upcoming film and that he has signed on to a third Batman film as well. However, he did stress that he still hasn't read a script yet.
"I was told I have five or six scenes," said Farrell.
Given that Oswald is now the new Kingpin of Gotham, fans can certainly expect him to have many run-ins with Robert Pattinson's Batman. With him being at the top of the criminal empire, he will certainly have his hands deep in Gotham's corruption, and Batman will want to investigate.
Bella Reál's anti-corruption squad
With Bella Reál being the mayor-elect of Gotham now, The Penguin season finale teased what her role in The Batman - Part II may be. When Oswald goes to meet Sebastian Hady so that he can snitch on Sofia Falcone, he asks that in return he get an audience with the big leagues. However, Sebastian warns him of Bella Reál's new anti-corruption squad.
Given that corruption runs deep within Gotham, Oswald will certainly be under Bella Reál's eye and this can hint at what her role in the upcoming sequel might be. Actress Jayme Lawson also returns to portray Bella Reál in a brief scene.
Sofia and Selina Kyle
At the end of The Penguin season finale, Sofia is sent back to Arkham once again. There, Julian Rush delivers a letter to her, which is sent by Selina Kyle, who is also her half-sister. Given that Sofia and Selina do share blood with Carmine Falcone being their father, fans can certainly expect the sisters to meet at some point.
The Batman - Part II releases in theatres on October 2, 2026.
