Max has finally released the second trailer for The Penguin, and it offered viewers more insight into what the show will be about. This Colin Farrell-led The Batman spinoff series will follow Oswald Cobblepot as he tries to make a name for himself in the wake of Carmine Falcone's death and become one of the biggest crime lords in Gotham.

Alongside Farrell, The Penguin also stars many other talented actors like Clancy Brown and Cristin Milioti, who will portray Salvatore Maroni and Sofia Falcone, respectively. By the looks of the teaser, The Penguin will explore the criminal side of Gotham in more depth and turn Oswald Cobblepot into the villain he becomes in the comics.

Exploring 5 major takeaways from The Penguin teaser

1) Gotham is still underwater

One of the biggest takeaways from The Penguin teaser is that Gotham is still underwater. In The Batman's final act, The Riddler floods Gotham, causing mass panic in the city, and it looks like the Colin Farrell-starrer will be picking up where the film left off.

The teaser begins with Cobblepot reacting to the chaos that has taken place in the city with shots of Gotham underwater in the background. This continuation will help the series align with the film.

2) Oswald Cobblepot meeting Sal Maroni

The teaser for The Penguin also shows Cobblepot going to prison to meet Salvatore Maroni. In The Batman, it was revealed that Maroni was put behind bars after Carmine Falcone snitched on his drops business to the Gotham City Police Department so that he could take over it.

With Cobblepot visiting Maroni in prison, it could mean he is there to make a statement saying he is in power now.

3) Diving deeper into the Falcone family

In The Batman, we only got to see who Carmine Falcone was and what his empire was like. Being the biggest crime lord in Gotham, he had reach, and when it came to his family, viewers didn't get to see much. Aside from Selina Kyle/Catwoman being his illegitimate daughter.

However, The Penguin teaser makes it clear that it will show more of his family and children, with Alberto Falcone and Sofia Falcone set to be major players in the series. The teaser showcases them trying to cope with the death of their father and deciding what to do with his empire.

4) Sofia Falcone stepping out of the shadows

The teaser also heavily hints at Sofia Falcone stepping out of the shadows and trying to make a play for her father's empire. Certain scenes have her covered in bruises with blood on her fingernails - signifying that maybe she self-harmed. But the footage makes it clear that she is tired of being pushed aside and will take back what she wants.

5) A power struggle in Gotham

By the end of The Batman, it was clear that Matt Reeves was setting up a future power struggle in Gotham with the death of Carmine Falcone. It looks like the show will be built on the foundation of that.

The teaser for The Penguin shows Cobblepot going for the throne and Sofia Falcone challenging him at the same time. With the show centered on a story for Cobblepot that will show him going from being an enforcer to crime royalty, viewers can expect things in Gotham to get even more chaotic.
