The Rings of Power season 2 episode 7 was released on Amazon Prime Video on September 26, 2024. The ending of the previous episode teased the siege of Eregion by Adar’s army. In the latest episode, the siege is in full swing.

The synopsis of episode 7, titled Doomed to Die, reads:

“Eregion’s fate is decided.”

The episode opens with Celebrimbor engrossed in making the nine rings for men. Due to Sauron's spell, he does not register that Eregion is being ransacked. Elsewhere, Elrond meets Prince Durin and requests him to send a Dwarf army to Eregion.

However, as the episode nears its end, Elrond’s hopes are dashed, as the Dwarf army does not arrive. Adar advances into Eregion and stabs Arondir in the torso. However, it is not yet clear if the blow kills the latter.

The Rings of Power season 2 episode 7 ending: Arondir is severely wounded but probably not dead

Towards the beginning of the seventh episode, Gil-galad and Elrond lead an army of Elves into Eregion, intent on checking Adar’s rampage. However, Adar shows them that Galadriel is currently his prisoner. Thus, the Elves halt their charge.

Adar wants Galadriel’s ring from Elrond, which the latter refuses. Instead, he goes to meet his friend, Prince Durin, resulting in one of the most poignant moments in The Rings of Power season 2. As the old pals reunite, Elrond asks Durin to lead a Dwarf army and help the Elves fight the orcs under Adar.

As the episode draws to its end, Adar and company wreak havoc in Eregion, taking the help of Damrod, the hill-troll. Even though Damrod is then taken down by the Elves, Adar’s march does not stop. However, Elrond is still hopeful since he anticipates the Dwarves’ arrival at any minute.

Meanwhile, in Khazad-dum, King Durin has been acting erratic since putting on the ring, as he asks his men to intensify the mining operation. This causes internal strife within the kingdom. Caught up in this fix, Prince Durin is unable to lead the promised army into Eregion.

When it becomes clear that the Dwarves are not arriving to help them, Elrond is heartbroken. Adar continues his offensive and rushes towards Elrond to snatch Galadriel’s ring from him. Arondir tries to put up a resistance but he is stabbed into the torso by Adar.

The scene does not show Arondir’s death. Rather, as the camera pans away, he can be seen crawling and struggling to get back on his feet. Thus, it can be assumed that even though the wound is serious, it is probably not fatal. The finale of The Rings of Power season 2 might further clarify Arondir’s fate.

Celebrimbor sees through Sauron’s disguise in episode 7

In the latest episode of The Rings of Power season 2, Celebrimbor finally realizes that Annatar is none other than Sauron. Due to Sauron’s spell, Celebrimbor had so far been unable to understand that his city was under attack by the orcs.

However, in the latest episode, the spell momentarily breaks, showing Celebrimbor the reality. When he confronts Sauron with the truth, the latter cryptically threatens the ringmaker. Helpless, Celebrimbor does finish making the nine rings for men.

After this, he is imprisoned by Sauron, However, he manages to slip out, handing over the nine rings to Galadriel, who has similarly broken out of Adar’s grasp. As this is done, he returns to confront Sauron with some guards, who are instantly annihilated by Sauron, who then demands the rings from Celebrimbor.

In the source material penned by J. R. R. Tolkien, Sauron sadistically tortures and kills Celebrimbor. It remains to be seen what fate the latter has in the finale of The Rings of Power season 2.

What’s happening with Galadriel?

In The Rings of Power season 2 episode 5, Adar asked Galadriel to join hands with him, so they can defeat Sauron together. Galadriel’s refusal resulted in her being imprisoned by Adar.

In episode 7, Elrond refuses to hand over Galadriel’s ring to Adar. Instead, he wants to wish her goodbye. During the farewell, he kisses Galadriel. The kiss, however, is only a cover-up; he furtively gives her a pin.

Using the pin, Galadriel escapes from her captivity. In the city, she comes across Celebrimbor. This is the first time they meet each other in The Rings of Power season 2, and both have been victims of Sauron’s deceit. Celebrimbor hands over the rings to her, and goes off to face Sauron.

Towards the end of the episode, Galadriel is seen with the Elves. However, the closing moments of the episode show that Adar has succeeded in getting hold of her ring, which she had previously given to Elrond for safety.

The finale of The Rings of Power season 2 will be released on Amazon Prime Video on October 3, 2024.
