ABC's police procedural drama The Rookie is set to end its season 6, with the final episode set to air on May 21, 2024. However, this is not the end for the Nathan Fillion-starrer as the series has been renewed for a seventh season.
As per IMDb, the synopsis for the show reads:
"Starting over isn't easy, especially for John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of joining the LAPD. As their oldest rookie, he's met with skepticism from those who see him as just a walking midlife crisis."
As per a December 2019 article by the New York Post, the main character of John Nolan is inspired by a real-life police officer called William Norcross. He is a college friend of Jon Steinberg, who serves as an executive producer for the show along with Norcross.

The Rookie season 7 will debut sometime in 2025
On May 14, 2024, ABC revealed its programming lineup for 2024-2025, including the fall 2024 schedule. Notably, The Rookie and Will Trent, which have both been renewed, were absent from the fall schedule.
Instead, these shows are slated for midseason premieres, meaning The Rookie season 7 will debut sometime in 2025. The exact date has not been confirmed yet but is expected to be announced in the near future.

Thus, fans have to wait a little longer than usual to watch the new season of the LAPD drama.
