Starz's The Serpent Queen is a historical drama series directed by Justin Haythe. Based on the non-fiction book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France by Leonie Frieda, the series follows the story of a 14-year-old girl called Catherine de' Medici, married into the French Valois court.
Starring Samantha Morton, the series saw the premiere of season 2 in July and has to date seen the release of four episodes. The latest episode was released recently on August 2, following the weekly schedule of the season 2 premiere. The series official synopsis is written as:

Season 2 of The Serpent Queen has already seen the protagonist, Catherine, make a range of big moves as the empress of France. She initially wanted to unite France under Charles IX in furtherance of her secular agenda but saw the peace of the entire region get affected.
To this, Catherine attempted to broker a trade deal with the Bourbons to maintain peace with England but soon found out that the Duke of Guise had been involved in arson. Furthermore, Catherine also realized England merely viewed her empire as a potential trade destination to exploit, leading to a rebellion in her country. Furthermore, the recently released episode 4 also saw Catherine come up with a mysterious plan to broker peace in the region, which can be expected to be explored in the upcoming episode 5.
Regardless, it is clear fans have a range of interesting developments set to play out in the upcoming episodes, all set to be released according to the schedule mentioned above.
