The Serpent Queen season 2: Full list of cast in the second installment

Justin Haythe’s The Serpent Queen is a historical drama series delving into the story of Catherine de Medici, the Queen of France from 1547 to 1559. An Italian noblewoman, Catherine’s role is played by Samantha Morton and focuses on the kind of struggles and obstacles that she had to undergo in order to maintain peace during her reign.

The series premiered with its first season back in September 2022 and has the following official synopsis:

“Series based on Leonie Frieda's book "Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France."”

Season 2 of the series was released recently on July 12, 2024, with a total of 4 episodes released thus far. Episode 5 of the series will be released on July 9, with a range of new faces being evident in season 2.

1) Samantha Morton as Catherine de Medici

The talented Samantha Morton stars in this series as the titular queen. Morton has previously been seen in a range of major TV series and movies, such as Minority Report, In America, The Messenger, and Synecdoche, New York.

Morton has delivered a stellar portrayal of Queen Catherine and is a secular, modern queen who attempts to bring peace and calm to the entire region. Of course, she undergoes a range of obstacles and is currently dealing with multiple big ones. This includes the East India Company’s efforts to exploit the French economy.

2) Raza Jaffrey as François de Guise

Raza Jaffrey stars in The Serpent Queen as François de Guise, a French nobleman and military leader who emerges as one of The Serpent Queen’s biggest allies. Raza Jaffrey is also an utterly familiar face and has previously been seen in movies such as Code Black and The Rhythm Section.

The English actor has also been seen in Homeland and has emerged as one of the most stellar stars in The Serpent Queen as well. Playing a talented military leader with ample fighting skills, Jeffrey’s portrayal has been lauded by a majority of fans.

3) Ray Panthaki as Charles Guise

Ray Panthanki stars in The Serpent Queen as Charles Guise, the younger brother of Francois de Guise. The actor himself has been part of both seasons thus far and also has experience as a director and screenwriter.

Panthaki has previously been seen in series and movies such as Boiling Point, Official Secrets, Colette, and Marcella. The veteran actor has been in the industry since 2013, when he made his debut via The Empress.
