The Simpsons season 36 episode 2, Yellow Lotus, released on Fox on October 6, 2024, referenced the HBO series The White Lotus. The episode was not particularly eventful in terms of storylines or dramatic character developments. Instead, it served as a transitional episode, connecting the show's first episode, which used meta-narrative storytelling, with the upcoming episodes.

Keeping in line with the narrative of The White Lotus, The Simpsons season 36 episode 2 killed off a character, but it was one of the less important characters in the show. Nick Callahan, a realtor introduced to the audience in season 9 episode 9 of the show met his tragic end in the latest episode.

Jack the realtor is dead in The Simpsons season 36 episode 2

Jack, the realtor who appeared in two episodes of The Simpsons, was probably not the character audiences were hoping would go through a drastic character arc in the show. However, that is what happened in the show's latest episode.

Jack, whom audiences first saw in The Simpsons season 9 episode 9 and in The Simpsons season 36 episode 2, was killed off in the episode. The show-makers steered clear of sacrificing any major characters for the sake of the storyline while also serving audiences the shock value of a character's death in the episode.

The Simpsons season 36 episode 2 provided closure on the nature of the relationship between two long-time characters

Episode 2 of The Simpsons season 36 gave the audience a resolution on the nature of the relationship between Doctor Julius Hibbert and his wife, Bernice, who has been part of the show for several years.

Their collective character arcs in the show was lovey-dovey in the beginning and a bit severed in the later episodes, with the couple engaging in elaborate quarrels in almost all the episodes they have appeared in.

This is in part owing to Bernice's addiction-related issues and Julius' low tolerance towards it. However, in the latest episode, when the Hibberts go on a hot-air balloon trip, Julius confronts Bernice about her drug issue and throws the contents of her bag containing the drugs out.

Following the incident, Julius professes his love to his wife, Bernice, a sight The Simpsons fans haven't seen in several years, allowing the audiences to feel good about the couple.
