The Sticky is a comedy series on Amazon Prime Video that premiered on December 6, 2024. The ending of this series was packed with tension and unexpected twists as Ruth (Margo Martindale), Remy (Guillaume Cyr), and Mike (Chris Diamantopoulos) carried out their maple syrup heist at the Quebec Maple Association's warehouse, headed by CEO Leonard.
Ruth, driven by her need for justice and revenge against Leonard’s ruthless tactics, wanted to secure her future and care for her comatose husband, Martin. Remy, tired of being overlooked after years as the warehouse security guard, saw the heist as his shot at something big. Mike, seeking respect from the Devaney crime family, jumped in to make his mark.
The trio faced challenges, especially when Beau, sent by the Devaney family to kill Mike, threatened to derail everything. But fate intervened, and Beau’s accidental fall removed the immediate danger. With their biggest obstacle gone, the heist appeared to be on track. However, as the story unfolded, the final outcome left viewers wondering if their plan was truly successful or more chaos awaited them.
The Maple syrup heist in The Sticky
In The Sticky, Ruth, Remy, and Mike’s plan to pull off the heist was full of chaos. Their original idea of swapping stolen maple syrup with water and weighted objects fell apart after Mike murdered Orval Steeks, drawing police attention.
Things worsened when Mike broke into a police car, became a suspect, and failed to kill the new warehouse guard, Gary, who gave a detailed sketch of him to the cops. Mike’s boss, Charlie, sent Beau to kill him, but after Beau accidentally died, time became critical.
Ruth suggested a bold new plan of siphoning syrup straight from barrels and the warehouse’s silo during Harvest Day while the workers celebrated. Meanwhile, Mike barely avoided arrest at home and retrieved his murder weapon, a baseball bat. The trio gathered at the warehouse, where Remy ensured it was empty, and the high-stakes heist began, bringing tension and thrills to The Sticky’s finale.
Leonard's Downfall at Harvest Day
Leonard, the villainous leader of the Quebec Maple Association, was despised by the entire town for ruining farmers' lives with his unethical business practices. Ruth, driven by revenge, crashed one of her maple trees into his office, sparking even more hatred.
Leonard (Guy Nadon) tried to have Ruth arrested, but this only deepened the town’s hatred. Things took a turn when Leonard and his son, Leo (Mickaël Gouin), clashed. Leo bailed Ruth out of jail and openly criticized his father’s cruel methods, which only fueled Leonard’s anger.
Later in The Sticky series, Leonard pretended to retire and pass the CEO role to Leo at the Harvest Day gathering, but his true colors quickly emerged. He falsely blamed Leo for the crushing fines imposed on farmers, hoping to save face. His lies backfired as the crowd saw through him.
Furious farmers pelted Leonard with beer bottles and food, while others planned to raid the Association’s warehouse. Leo watched silently, knowing his father’s downfall was inevitable.
The high-stakes heist and a bittersweet escape
Ruth, Remy, and Mike’s maple syrup heist was going smoothly until Maurice, Remy’s father, caught them in the act. Though disappointed in his son, Maurice promised not to report them, but his presence stirred tension. Remy, frustrated and hurt, blamed Mike for past misdeeds, and their argument threatened the mission. The situation worsened when a mob of protesters approached the warehouse.
Ruth created a clever distraction by setting the Association’s visitors’ center on fire. While the mob, Leonard, and Leo focused on the blaze, the trio continued siphoning syrup into their tanker truck.
Despite a last-minute confrontation with Gary, Remy chose loyalty to the group and knocked him out. The team hit the road with $8 million worth of syrup, but not without a dark twist—Mike framed Maurice for Steeks’ murder. The heist’s success ended on a bittersweet note as Ruth learned her husband’s condition had improved, giving her hope for the future.
Possibility of season 2 in Amazon Prime's The Sticky
The mid-credits scene of The Sticky revealed a surprising twist Beau was alive. Despite appearing lifeless when Mike put her in the freezer, she somehow survived. Severely injured, Beau escaped and made her way to Martin, hinting at a deeper connection between them.
This scene raised intriguing questions about the past and future of the story. It suggested a history between Martin (Joseph Bellerose), Mike, and Beau that remains untold. Martin may have played a key role in shaping Mike’s life, and Mike, in return, had been helping Martin and Ruth during his coma. However, Ruth’s knowledge of Mike’s ties to the Devaney crime family in Boston seems limited, as she doesn’t recognize Beau or fully understand Mike’s dark past.
This twist sets the stage for a potential season 2, where the relationships between these characters and their secrets could take center stage, adding even more drama to the story. However, season 2 hasn't been officially announced yet.
