The Umbrella Academy season 4: Plot
Throughout the series, the Hargreeves siblings have been seen teaming up and saving the world from one crisis after another. In The Umbrella Academy season 4, it is learned that this act has caused the singular timeline to be bifurcated into many shattered timelines.
The Keepers have this knowledge, and they eagerly wait for the Cleanse, an apocalypse that will wipe out the shattered timelines and restore the universe to the singular one. However, the finale of The Umbrella Academy season 4 reveals that for that to happen, the Hargreeves siblings must sacrifice themselves.
The Cleanse is started when Ben and Jennifer combine together to create a monster. The Marigold in Ben’s body and the Durango in Jennifer’s body react to create the bulbous monster who gradually grows big enough to consume and destroy the world.
Against this monster, the agent of the Cleanse, the Hargreeves siblings do not resist. As a result, they are consumed by it, and their Marigold gets canceled out by the opposing force of the Durango. The shattered timelines disappear and the stable one is restored. With their sacrifice, Hargreeves siblings erase themselves from history.
