The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 episode 4 follows the events of the previous episode, L'Invisible, which showed Losang make a decisive turn to villainy. He's shown a willingness to cross any line he deems necessary to prove Laurent's potential for immunity from the walkers, to the point of manipulating his followers into a religious fervor.

L'Invisible showed Losang preparing a ceremony to publicly demonstrate Laurent's immunity by having a walker bite the kid. When Daryl planned to take Laurent with him to America, Losang turned on him and kidnapped Laurent to pursue his extreme agenda.

When Daryl disrupted the ceremony and allowed Laurent to escape, he and Isabelle were captured by Losang's followers. Their budding romance is put to rest once and for all in episode 4, when Losang interrogates Isabelle about Laurent's whereabouts, only for her to attack him. In retaliation, he mortally wounds her.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 episode 4 starts with Losang in a rough spot. Genet's Pouvoir forces are about to go on the attack with their forces of Ampers while he's reeling from Laurent's escape and desperately wants to get the boy back.

Carol was one of the people Genet had captured and attempted to zombify for her own purposes. However, she escapes the dire fate that awaits her fellow captives by playing dead and drives over to Losang's hideout, known as the Nest, with Codron tied to the back as walker bait.

Upon making it, the two part ways, and Codron makes it clear he allied with her for Laurent's sake. At this point, Daryl breaks free from his chains and fights his way through Walkers when he finally reunites with Carol thanks to the help of a mortally wounded, though not quite dead, Isabelle.

Dying in Daryl's arms, Isabelle pleads with Daryl to keep Laurent safe, and Daryl and Carol subsequently escape the Nest as Genet successfully captures it.

The fourth episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 brings a clear end to the series-wide conflict between Genet's Pouvoir forces and Losang's Union of Hope.

This occurs because Daryl and Carol encounter an elderly couple while trying to track down Laurent. The couple, named Theo and Didi, offer Daryl and Carol a car they can use to go on their way. However, Theo secretly rats out Daryl's whereabouts to Genet, causing her to send her forces after him. In the ensuing battle, Didi dies and Genet gets hit by one of her own Walker darts.

With the death of his primary foe, Losang manages to anoint himself as the new leader of both the Union of Hope and Pouvoir. Genet's second-in-command, Sabine, falls for his speech about "forgiveness" and agrees to merge her forces with his. With both Pouvoir and the Union's remnants now combined, Losang commands them to hunt down Laurent and destroy anyone who gets in their way.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 episode 4 has therefore set up a climactic confrontation between Daryl and Carol on one end, and Losang's forces on the other. With Laurent's whereabouts currently unknown, it remains to be seen who will find the boy first.
