"The way I screamed": Fans react to a major DC superhero's cameo in Creature Commandos episode 6

Creature Commandos episode 6 premiered on Max on January 2, 2025. Titled Priyatel Skelet, it was the penultimate episode of season 1 with the finale set to be released in the upcoming week. It looked at the Creature Commandos trying to survive in Pokolistan as the army was after them after Princess Ilana Rostovic learned that they were coming after her to kill her.

As Creature Commandos episode 6 focused on the origins of Dr. Phosphorus, fans got their first look at Gotham City in the new DC Universe. The episode was set in Gotham, meaning that the Dark Knight is about and around as well. After Dr. Phosphorus took over Rupert Thorne's criminal empire, fans got their first look at DCU's Batman since he was the reason the villain ended up in Belle Reeve.

While only the silhouette of Batman was visible, it was a big enough cameo that made a huge impact on Creature Commandos episode 6. So far, not much is known about this version of Batman, but it is clear that he has been active for a long time now.

After fans saw the cameo in the episode, they took to social media to express their excitement about seeing the Dark Knight.

"The way I screamed and woke my girlfriend up when I saw this scene," said one fan.

Fans seemingly had varied reactions to the cameo as some claimed that they almost threw the remote in excitement while others screamed in joy.

"MY F*****G GOAT, BATMAN, HAS OFFICIALLY MADE HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN THE DCU. I ALMOST THREW MY REMOTE ACROSS THE ROOM—IT FELT SO DAMN GOOD TO SEE HIM AGAIN!!!" exclaimed one fan in excitement.

"Longer cape, white lenses and trunks. I can't wait to see this in live-action they are cooking," said another fan.

Some fans were excited to see the hint at the character's design in the new episode of Creature Commandos. Fans also discussed what they would like to see in the new version of the superhero as others praised the art style.

"It’s clear the art style is a bit embellished in the animated projects like Flag in the show vs the Superman set photos. But I expect this batman to have a little bulk in his live action debut. Also the prominent utility belt, smaller ears, with the long cape. Nice," said another fan.

"Oh my god they did the thing!!! The thing they did it!! The btas thing!!," shared another fan.

"Batman has his iconic white eyes in the DCU?! WE’VE WON," said another fan.

James Gunn talks about Batman in Creature Commandos episode 6

Following the release of Creature Commandos episode 6, James Gunn sat down with Rotten Tomatoes to discuss Batman's cameo in the episode.

Gunn revealed that during the development of the episode, there was a little more to Batman's design. However, he said that he asked the animators to make the superhero more of a silhouette so that they didn't commit to the design very soon.

“When they first gave it to me, we saw a lot more Batman, and I [was] saying, ‘I am not ready to commit to that. So I [was] just like ‘more silhouette, more silhouette, more silhouette',” he added.

He also confirmed that this is DCU's Batman and even teased an appearance alongside Superman. Gunn noted that they were planning to "do great things with him." He added that since Batman was "the most popular superhero in the world," he was excited for fans to see more of him with Superman as well.
