Apple TV Plus's fantasy adventure television series, Time Bandits has been canceled after just one season. Information about the same was publicized on September 16, 2024.

The announcement gave rise to speculations about the reasons for the sudden cancellation of the show. Some believe that the show's declining viewership and failure to resonate with audiences are factors behind its discontinuation. They also believe that the show was canceled to create space for more profitable programs on the streaming platform.

Needless to say, Time Bandits fans who were eagerly awaiting its renewal are distressed over the news. They have been expressing their discontent openly on social media platforms.

"Had to tell my mum Time Bandits was cancelled and she said "but I just finished it! How could you do that to wee Kevin?!" wrote one user on X.
"Guys time bandits is freaking awesome even as a show that ended too soon watch it. It’s so good," another user wrote on the platform.

Time Bandits won't be returning for a second season on Apple TV

On September 16, 2024, it was announced that Time Bandits season 2 will not be renewed. The announcement came almost a month after the show's first season finale episode aired. While some of the show's fans were disappointed with the news, others had anticipated it before the announcement was made.

The show was unable to garner significant traction among audiences despite being highly anticipated. It failed to secure a spot on Nielsen’s Top 10 and also underperformed among audiences and critics who averagely rated the show on platforms such as Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.

All of these factors are crucial in determining the fate of a project, and without them, audiences feel that the creators were not justified in continuing their storytelling with a second season of the show.

Additionally, the show got embroiled in several controversies. One significant issue that sparked widespread discussion was Charlyne Yi's allegations of physical and psychological abuse by some people on the set of the show.

Yi alleged that their concerns were not taken seriously and that they were pressured to leave the show. These allegations were made by them in a series of posts on Instagram.

The other thing that sparked a conversation among audiences was the absence of actors with dwarfism in the show's cast, despite it being central to the original film on which the show's characters were based.
