Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft is a new Netflix animated series based on the popular Tomb Raider video games. The show is packed with lore about Lara Croft and her team of adventurers and friends, developing upon the storylines in the video games.
Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft season 1.
Season 1 ended on October 10, 2024, after Lara took on a journey that put her adventure skills and even her empathy to the test. At the end of the episode, Lara decides to become a collector as well as just a raider, and donate some of her prized possessions to museums to be studied worldwide. This is her effort to assuage the damage that she sometimes does while raiding for important artefacts.
How did Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft end for Lara?
Season 1 of the show mainly focused on Lara's moral dilemmas, even as she fought against forces of evil. She started questioning how much destruction she was causing by raiding tombs for artefacts. This question was also highlighted by her friends, apprehensive of her "raider" title.
The show even focused on what it would be like if Lara turned to the path of evil. This mirror was shown to her as a thief named Charles Devereaux.
An ancient organization called The Light murdered Devereaux's father, much like Lara's own father Richard's demise. However, Lara sees that Devereaux channels his anger and grief into revenge and ravaging, something she finds morally wrong.
At the end of season 1, Lara donated her father's artefacts and documents to museums to be shown to the world. Lara became a collector instead of just a raider, who could appreciate the cultural significance of the artefacts in her possession. The one item she ended up keeping as a souvenir was the dinosaur tooth from her trip to Kunlun Mountain in the end.

What were the other storylines at the end of the series that might set up for season 2 of the show?
The supporting characters in the series also had satisfying endings. Jonah got married to Abby after their romance throughout the season. Since Lara had always felt guilt for dragging Jonah along on her missions, it was good for her to see her close friend have a moment of happiness, especially as a traditional Māori wedding.
Though, fans have been wondering about one missing name from Lara Croft's friend circle. Her best friend Sam Nishimura, who was a prominent part of the video game series, was absent from the show. It could be possible that the showrunners plan to include Sam in the storyline for the next season, thereby adding to Lara's supporters.
While there is no official news for season 2 yet, fans are hoping that the story will develop further to tie up these loose strings.
