Tulsa King season 1 Recap
Tulsa King season 1, currently streaming on Paramount+, revolves around Dwight "The General" Manfredi. He is an aging mafia capo who just finished serving a 25-year sentence. He was sentenced for a crime committed by another member of his New York-based crime family. Rather than going back to New York, Dwight is sent into exile to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and ordered to establish a new criminal empire.
The series follows his struggle to cope with a changed world, his estranged family, and the uphill task of starting from scratch in a new town. One of the first steps into the underworld in Tulsa is comical: he starts off extorting a cannabis shop owner, an icebreaker in this town with no real organized crime.
In building this new syndicate, Dwight surrounds himself with a group of colorful characters: Mitch, a bar owner and ex-con; Tyson, a young cab driver; and Bodhi, a cannabis store owner. As the story unfolds, Dwight forges an unlikely partnership with a Native American supplier. He must fend off other criminal interests trying to assume power. There is Caolan Waltrip, the leader of a biker gang who aims to corner all local trade.
Amidst these turf wars, he attempts to navigate a touchy relationship with Tina, his estranged daughter. He reconnects the pieces of their relationship bit by bit while still trying to keep Tyson from the darker elements of his business. The tension of the season comes full circle in a brutal confrontation between Dwight and the biker gang of Caolan, after which Dwight takes over as king of the underworld in Tulsa.
However, he is facing a violent test of his bond to his family and his syndicate due to his haunted past. The last episode leaves audiences hanging when Dwight is finally reunited with Tina. Again, he gets arrested, but this time by one of his close allies.
