The Tulsa King season 2 premiere started on an explosive note by introducing new enemies of Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) and making each party confront the other. Episode 2, released on September 22, 2024, on Paramount+, furthers the plot by developing the conflict between the two.
Titled “Kansas City Blues,” the synopsis of Tulsa King season 2 episode 2 on IMDb reads:
“A family member from Dwight's past surprises him in Tulsa, meanwhile his newfound success draws attention from the Kansas City Mob.”
The family member hinted at in the synopsis is Dwight’s sister, who comes to Tulsa after Dwight’s estranged daughter, Tina, decides to move in with her father. Meanwhile, an ongoing court trial against Dwight, influenced by his enemy Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough), keeps Dwight worried.
In the midst of all this, Chickie, an old enemy of ‘the General,’ calls up Goodie and offers him the whole of Tulsa if he helps Chickie bring Dwight down. It is not yet clear whose team Goodie will ultimately choose, but he does not refuse Chickie’s offer outright.
Tulsa King season 2 episode 2 ending: What will Goodie do?
In season 1, Goodie and some others were sent by Chickie to Tulsa to kill Dwight. However, Goodie decided to switch sides and work with Dwight instead. This, naturally, angered Chickie. In the Tulsa King season 2 premiere, he called up Goodie and shot Jerry dead, sending a message that messing with him would cost the others dearly.
Towards the beginning of episode 2, Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo), one of Thresher’s associates, phones Chickie and asks him why Dwight is in Tulsa. A Kansas mob boss, Bill sees Dwight as an intruder and thinks he has been sent there by Chickie, under whose father Dwight once worked.
Chickie soon clarifies that Dwight is a rogue element. Towards the end of Tulsa King season 2 episode 2, he calls up Goodie and offers him a place back in his gang if Goodie agrees to help Chickie bring Dwight down. Chickie also promises Goodie the whole of Tulsa once Dwight is out of the picture.
The episode’s ending is ambiguous, and it is not yet clear if Goodie will take up Chickie’s offer. However, he does not refuse it altogether. Whether he chooses to betray ‘the General’ can be known only in the next episodes.
What is Thresher up to?
The Tulsa King season 2 premiere already made clear that Thresher would not tolerate Dwight’s presence in Tulsa since he considers the place his turf. He would not entertain Dwight’s offer for a business partnership either.
In episode 2, Thresher is seen influencing the ongoing trial against Dwight. Dwight was arrested for allegedly bribing Stacy Beale in the finale of season 1. Though he is out on bail, the case is still pending, and the U.S. Attorney is determined to send Dwight back to prison.
During a meeting with the attorney, Dwight sees proof of his communication with Thresher. This shows that the attorney is working with Thresher, trying his best to prevent Dwight's entry into Tulsa’s marijuana business. Thus, Dwight's upcoming fight is quite tough.
The latest episode highlights Dwight’s family
Tulsa King season 2 episode 2 provides ample screen time for Dwight’s family members. His estranged daughter Tina decides to move to Tulsa with her two children so she can stay close to her father.
Further, the latest episode also reveals that she and Emory are no longer together, as Tina thought that her father's criminal life would endanger Emory’s life in turn.
The episode also sees Joanna, Dwight’s younger sister and Tina’s aunt, come to Tulsa to provide emotional support to her niece. Tulsa King season 2 is set to be a test of Dwight’s strategies and strength, and having his family around will be an advantage.
The next episode of Tulsa King season 2 episode 3 will be released on Paramount+ on September 29, 2024.
