Unsolved Mysteries: Who is Lee Antoni and where is he now? Everything to know

Episode two of Netflix’s True Crime doc volume four titled Unsolved Mysteries interviews Lee Antoni among other family members of Amanda Antoni. Amanda was found dead on October 26, 2015, at her home in Calgary.

To date, The Calgary Police and detectives haven't been able to find a proper answer to why she was killed because of a lack of evidence after which her death was concluded to be an accident. The case is now closed until further leads are discovered.

In the second episode of Netflix's Unsolved Mysteries titled Body in the Basement, Lee Antoni, Amanda's husband, discusses the horrific event that befell Amanda. Lee is currently a resident of Calgary. Follow along to learn more about this case and Lee Antoni.

Lee Antoni is the husband of Amanda Antoni who features in episode two of Unsolved Mysteries. Amanda's body was discovered in the basement of their home on October 26, 2015. Lee was the first person to discover her bloodied and cold bold in rigor mortis. After discovering her body, Lee freaked out as shown in Unsolved Mysteries episode 2.

He then called 911 and reported her death to the Calgary Police. Sergeant Petersen was the first officer to reach the crime scene. In the series, we get to see how Lee Antoni was terrified which was also reported by Seargent Trent Petersen who said on Unsolved Mysteries that -

“As I got near the front door I could see that Lee was shaking and he was visibly upset."

Lee told Petersen -

"She (Amanda) is in the basement"

Petersen after reaching the scene, told the next responding officer to stay with Lee as they investigated the dead body and the entire crime scene.

When Amanda was 20, she met Lee via a mutual friend and married him a few years later. However, Lee wasn’t a reliable husband and would get fired from jobs often, which upset Amanda. The couple had fights regarding the same too, after which Amanda started her own business to support herself.

Where was Lee Antoni when Amanda died?

As seen in Unsolved Mysteries episode 2 and revealed by Lee Antoni himself, he was not present with Amanda before or while she died. Lee last saw Amanda on Friday, October 24, 2015. Lee had left the residence on Friday to meet his mother in Saskatchewan for property settlement.

Lee also revealed to the police that Amanda was supposed to go with him too but had to cancel the road trip because she was not feeling well. The official interrogation footage shows Lee denying any involvement in Amanda’s murder.

In the official interrogation footage after Amanda's death, the investigating officer asked him:

"Are you involved in this Lee? Because I’m going to find out"

To which Lee (Amanda's husband) replied and said:

"I’m not. I’m not man. Yeah yeah! Go go right ahead. I was at my mom’s all weekend."

To confirm Lee’s story the officers checked footage of the various gas stations Lee had stopped in on his way back from Saskatchewan. The footage showed that Lee was away from the scene at the time of the murder. The officers still kept him under the radar thinking he could have hired someone to kill her but not a tad bit of evidence was found against him.

Lee who loved his wife, said on Unsolved Mysteries episode 2:

"Amanda was my better half. I fell in love with her personality. She is a person where when she walks in the room, everyone smiles. She always makes everyone comfortable. When they were doing their investigation, I was not worried. They were doing their job …… I want to know what happened to Amanda..."

Lee was in constant contact with Amanda even while he was away. Amanda last spoke to Lee on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. after which the call got disconnected at 7:10 p.m. abruptly. Lee tried calling her multiple times that night but couldn’t reach her. The same was the story on Sunday.

In the docu-series, he describes to the audience how the call was disconnected. These were his last words on the phone with Amanda -

"Hello. Honey . Amanda ? Amanda ? and there was nothing. So I hung up ……"

Lee and Amanda's neighbors told the Calgary officers that they heard Amanda's black labrador barking strangely and continuously on Saturday and there was a noise of yelling from inside the house. A neighbor also claimed to have spotted someone running through Amanda's yard. The couple lived in a cursed neighborhood where crime was a daily chore for many culprits, ranking up the crime stats of the area.

Who killed Amanda Antoni?

After Amanda’s autopsy report came out, there were multiple revelations. The police had earlier suspected that Amanda could have been se*ually assaulted and then murdered. However, the reports confirmed that she wasn’t assaulted. There was no trauma to the brain too. Amanda however had a broken orbital bone. She died because of blunt force trauma followed by extreme blood loss.

However, there was not a tad bit of evidence found on the crime scene. No fingerprints, footprints, or DNA of any other person other than Amanda’s. There was also no sign of a house break-in however Amanda's phone was found broken on the ground and a ceramic piggy bank was partially broken too.

The case has now been closed until there is a future breakthrough. The Behavioral Science Investigators have concluded that her death was because of a very unfortunate accident. They assumed that Amanda fell from the stairs and bled to death.

Amanda’s family and several cops and detectives familiar with this case do not buy this accident theory and believe that she was murdered. In episode two of Unsolved Mysteries, Amanda's story is told after years in the hopes of obtaining new leads.
