Maintaining the essence of the first season, Unstable Season 2 features Rob Lowe and John Owen Lowe as the father-son pair once again engaging in playful disagreements about serious things.

Ellis Dragon, the CEO and founder of Dragon, wishes for his son Jackson Dragon to take over the family business, but Jackson desires to establish himself independently of his father. To do the same, he seeks other avenues of self-fulfilment.

In Unstable season 2, Jackson does that by trying to depart from his father's company and work for a person named Peter instead, whom he met through Ruby. However, that eventually backfires, with Ellis ultimately acquiring Peter's company to maintain a close eye on his son.

Jackson no longer wants to work under his father in Unstable season 2

Those who have been keeping up with the developments of Unstable on Netflix would already be aware of the dynamics shared between father-son Ellis and Jackson Dragon. While the former basks in the glory that comes as a result of his position, the latter wishes not to stay under that shadow.

Instead, Jackson wants to create a name for himself outside of his father's business. Ellis on the other hand, tries to engulf Jackson more and more into his business, almost leaving no room for him to escape what he wishes.

In Unstable Season 2, when Jackson signs himself up to work with Peter, whose ways of business align with his, Ellis buys Peter's company, leaving Jackson no choice but to work with his father yet again.

Ellis warns Jackson about Georgia in Unstable season 2

At the same time that Peter's company was acquired by Ellis, Jackson began to become friends with Georgia, who is Anna's daughter. The two became close enough to share details about their lives. Jackson talked to Georgia about his father and expressed his lack of interest in following in his father's footsteps, describing him as coercive.

Georgia validated his feelings but, unbeknownst to Jackson, went behind his back and informed Ellis. He also suggested a way in which Ellis could ensure that Jackson represented his company at the BioTexpo conference. He asked Ellis to fire her and give the proposal to his son that she would not be rehired until he agreed to go to the conference.

Their plan worked but Ellis ended up warning Jackson against Georgia, for reasons only known to him. This was, however, not taken casually by Jackson, who did not want to feel controlled by his father yet again.

Ellis's character in Unstable season 2 is presumably experiencing a shift

Ellis, who is often seen putting his needs before everyone else's, seemingly has a change of heart in season 2 of Unstable. After receiving death threats, Jackson and Ellis escape to a place where they are not well known and attend a conference.

The father-son duo share several bonding moments, giving off the vibe that they are finally connecting on a deeper level. Ellis appreciated Jackson for his level-headedness during difficult times, something he wasn't used to hearing before.

The two come back from the trip with a better bond than the one they shared before. However, it remains to be seen in the show's third season whether Ellis will remain as considerate as he showed himself to be in the finale, or if he will revert to his old ways.
