American actress Valerie Bertinelli recently announced that she is taking a break from social media. The pause comes just one week after the completion of her United States tour for her new cookbook, Indulge.

On Friday, May 17, 2024, the 64-year-old took to Instagram to tell her followers that she felt she needed a “cleanse/detox” from being online. She wrote:

"The last six or so weeks have been…a LOT. And while I am incredibly grateful for all your support for my book and everyone I’ve had the good fortune to meet, this here introvert in extrovert’s clothing is in need of a mental health break."

Bertinelli expressed that she knew that she didn’t “need to announce my departure.” However, the actress said she wanted to share the news with some fans who tend to worry if she does not post enough.

Valerie Bertinelli is taking a social media break because she’s "overwhelmed and mentally/emotionally exhausted"

Valerie Bertinelli began her book tour for Indulge at Long Island LitFest on April 2, 2024. The U.S. tour ended recently in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 17. Soon after, the actress shared with her fans that she would be taking a break from social media.

Valerie Bertinelli's Indulge: Delicious and Decadent Dishes to Enjoy and Share cookbook is a collection of 100 recipes to "nourish the body and the soul." She has authored several other books, including Enough Already, Losing It, Valerie's Home Cooking, and Finding It. On Friday, she posted a selfie of herself with her head resting on her hand and wrote:

"But, I’m good. Honest. Taking a little social media cleanse/detox and a mental health break is a good thing and I’m grateful I’m at a place in my life where I’m aware enough to know when I’m overwhelmed and mentally/emotionally exhausted. Y’all take care of yourselves. I’ll be back before you know it."

Valerie Bertinelli also gave several updates about her life and included photos and videos with her new boyfriend, Mike Goodnough. The pair went Instagram official on April 20, 2024. They shared a selfie on Instagram, smiling together with spectacles on. The cookbook author wrote in the caption while using the lyrics from Taylor Swift’s So High School, saying:

" 🎶 I’ll drink what you think and I’m high from smoking’ your jokes all damn night 🎶"

Valerie Bertinelli was previously married to Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007. The pair have a son together named Wolfgang Van Halen born on March 16, 1991. Bertinelli and Eddie separated in 2001 and got a divorce on December 20, 2007.

She went on to marry financial planner Tom Vitale and they stayed together from 2011 to 2022. Last month Valerie Bertinelli thanked fans for their support for her latest cookbook and her “life updates.” She wrote in a caption,

“When I go on my walks, I do a lot of reflecting. Sometimes sweet, sometimes challenging. Reflecting on this week and the kindness all of you have shown me in our conversations at the Indulge book signings, and here online, I just wanted to send out a huge thank you for supporting me and for all your sweet responses to my life updates. 🥰"

The musician Eddie Van Halen passed away on October 6, 2020, in Santa Monica, California, United States at the age of 65.

However, their son Wolfgang followed in his footsteps and became a musician. He got engaged to Andraia Allsop on July 6, 2022, and the couple tied the knot on October 15, 2023.
