Cast members of Watson season 1
The cast of Watson brings a fresh perspective to Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic characters, led by Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson. Chestnut portrays Watson as a skilled internist and clinical geneticist. He juggles his role as the head of the Holmes Clinic with his unresolved grief over Sherlock Holmes’ death. His performance captures Watson’s intellectual brilliance and emotional struggles, making him a compelling lead.
Rochelle Aytes stars as Mary Morstan, Watson’s ex-wife and the clinic’s medical director. A highly respected surgeon, Mary acts as Watson’s moral compass, often challenging his unconventional methods while maintaining a professional working relationship with him.
Eve Harlow plays Dr. Ingrid Derian, a neurologist whose standoffish nature masks her brilliance. She adds a layer of tension to the team with her unconventional and highly focused approach to medicine.
Peter Mark Kendall portrays twin brothers Stephens and Adam Croft, specialists in infectious diseases and functional medicine. The twins bring contrasting energy to the clinic, with Stephens being data-driven and reserved, while Adam is more approachable and empathetic.
Ritchie Coster plays Shinwell Johnson, a former criminal turned administrative aide. His street smarts and connections often prove invaluable in solving both medical and investigative challenges.
What is Watson season 1 about?
Set one year after the shocking death of Sherlock Holmes at Reichenbach Falls, Watson reimagines Dr. John Watson’s life as he steps out of Holmes’ shadow.
With his longtime friend and partner gone, Watson relocates from London to Pittsburgh to open the Holmes Clinic, a medical facility named in Sherlock’s honor. Funded by Holmes’ meticulous financial planning, the clinic specializes in rare and undiagnosed medical conditions that require Watson’s razor-sharp deductive skills.
The show begins with Watson grappling with the physical and emotional scars of their last case, where Moriarty seemingly orchestrated Holmes’ death. Suffering from a traumatic brain injury sustained during that final encounter, Watson is haunted by blurry memories of Moriarty, including a critical detail: his fused fingers. These memories ignite suspicions that Moriarty might still be alive, pulling Watson into a delicate balancing act between running his clinic and unraveling the truth.
At the clinic, Watson is joined by a team of highly skilled yet complicated professionals. Dr. Ingrid Derian, a neurologist with a cold demeanor, clashes with her colleagues but consistently delivers results. Dr. Sasha Lubbock, a rheumatologist with a complicated family history, brings an emotional edge to the team.
Identical twin brothers Dr. Stephens and Dr. Adam Croft offer contrasting approaches to medicine—Stephens is methodical and data-driven, while Adam is more personable and intuitive. Rounding out the team is Shinwell Johnson, a former London criminal who now works as the clinic’s administrative aide, often leveraging his old connections to help Watson.
The second episode of Watson season 1, titled Redcoat is set to air on CBS on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 9 pm ET. After its broadcast, viewers can stream the episode on Paramount+.
