House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5 was a smooth, conversation-based breather after a packed fourth episode. But now it seems the series is ready to return to its roots, i.e., dragons, fire, blood, and Daemon (Matt Smith). The show's upcoming episode will premiere on HBO and Max on July 21, 2024, and perhaps take viewers back to a tension-filled Westeros.

With a preview that seems to be as good as it gets for this Game of Thrones spinoff, the sixth episode is expected to bring forth the events of the Red Sowing, an iconic event in the George R.R. Martin spinoff novel Fire and Blood.

It will also likely bring Daemon back into action after he stayed subdued for most of the second season, which has been a source of some fun for fans.

House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6: What to expect?

House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6 promises plenty of drama both because of its setup and the ending of the previous episode, which hinted at the famous Red Sowing, an event that brings many important characters to the fore. Moreover, it will also be one of the last steps in Rhaenyra's (played by Emma D'Arcy) side's preparation for the Dance of the Dragons.

As we have already seen, Vhaegar remains the biggest threat to Rhaenyra's side. However, Rhaenyra has two big dragons that can take on Vhaegar, Silverwing and Vermithor. But both dragons remain without riders as of now.

So, the sixth episode may be focused on Rhaneyra and Jacerys trying to find riders for the two huge dragons, which would greatly aid in their side's quest for victory. The episode may also see the massacre of the Red Sowing, which is depicted with brutal realism in Fire and Blood.

Another thing this episode is expected to accommodate is Daemon's storyline, which has been out of action for most of the second season. His name is also mentioned several times in the trailer, with a slight tease of his rivalry with Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), who has emerged as his strongest rival for Rhaenyra.

All in all, after a relatively low-on-action fifth episode, the sixth one is slated to drive the tempo back up.

A brief recap of House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5

The fifth episode of House of the Dragon season 2 was largely geared towards exploring the aftermath of the fourth episode, which saw the first battle of dragons ultimately leading to tragedy. The fifth episode explored the impacts on each side and focused on the continuing war efforts and preparation for both.

The episode also revealed that Aegon II Targaryen is badly wounded and cannot rule in this state. This allows Aemond to step in, and he seemingly caused this to his brother with intent.

The episode ended with Jacerys planning to arm the two big dragons they have, which brings us to the possible events that will transpire in the sixth episode of the HBO show.
