The latest season of Death by Fame on ID is all set to kick off with the brutal murder of Adriana Pinon, a young aspiring actress whose life was cut short when she allegedly declined a romantic advancement. This case shook the community of the Skyline neighborhood of the city of San Diego and also made a mark on the film and television industry.

This case will be the subject of Death by Fame season 3 episode 1, titled The Young and the Jealous, which is set to air at 9 pm EST on January 13, 2025, Monday.

The young age of the victim made this case a standout. Furthermore, the two perpetrators were also very young.

Ahead of the episode, this article will go over what happened with Adriana Pinon.

Who was Adriana Pinon and what happened to her?

Adriana Pinon was born on September 23, 1983, and was determined to make her dreams come true from a young age. As she belonged to a family that was always supportive of her dreams, Pinon started chasing a career in acting quite early in her life, and by the time she was 18, she had become a regular extra for the famed soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

At the age of 19, she was living in her family’s residence in the Skyline neighborhood of the city of San Diego, and dreaming of making it big in the entertainment industry. All of it came crashing down when the police found her dead in the living room of her house on January 31, 2002. She was only 19 years old at the time.

On inspection, the police discovered that she was shot to death. An investigation was launched immediately but the road to finding the real perpetrators was a rather long one.

Who killed Adriana Pinon?

Adriana Pinon did not really have any enemies and initially, it was hard to pinpoint anyone who would want to kill the young aspiring actress. After intensive interviews and investigation, the police found two people who could be of interest to the case- Hugo Ariel Jimenez and Brian Aquino.

After a few weeks of the murder, the police finally brought in Hugo Ariel Jimenez for questioning. He claimed that he had no romantic links with Adriana Pinon and that he had not visited her house in a long time. However, the police found his fingerprints in the house, which led them to doubt his involvement.

He later changed his story and said that he had visited her on that day for a personal matter. Moreover, DNA from two glasses in the house confirmed that both Brian and Hugo were present on the day Adriana was killed.

The authorities connected the dots and alleged that Hugo wanted a romantic relationship with Adriana, but when she declined, he went on to take revenge on her. Brian and Hugo allegedly went to Adriana Pinon's house to rob her but when things escalated, Hugo shot her to death.

Both of them were arrested and charged but initially pleaded not guilty. With the trial date approaching, however, Brian, who was 17 at the time of the murder, pleaded guilty to robbery and being an accessory to the crime.

Hugo, on the other hand, who was as old as Adriana at the time, was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison. He continues to remain incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, California.

As for Brian Aquino, he served his time and got out of prison, opting to stay out of the limelight.
