Agatha All Along is a Marvel miniseries created by Jac Schaeffer for Disney+. It premiered on September 18, 2024, and is a part of Phase Five in the MCU. The first three episodes have been released, and the remaining will follow weekly until October 30. This show is a spin-off from WandaVision, centering around the character Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn.

This miniseries also introduces new characters while revisiting old ones. One among them is Nicholas Scratch, Agatha's long-lost son. Episode 1, Seekest Thou the Road, mentions him, and as the series progresses, more clues about his backstory appear.

Before Agatha All Along, Agatha’s son Nicholas Scratch had a complicated and mysterious life. As per episode 3, Through Many Miles/Of Tricks and Trials, it seems Agatha may have sacrificed her son to obtain the Darkhold.

In the comics, Nicholas was raised in New Salem, Colorado, a secret magical community. Agatha left him to live among humans, and Nicholas became a powerful warlock. In adulthood, he made seven children of his own, known as the Salem Seven.

The official synopsis of the show mentions,

"In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing."

Further it reads,

"Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…"

Nicholas Scratch is an important figure in both the comics and the MCU. Nicholas was first seen as a bad guy in the 1970s Fantastic Four comics. He was born in the magical town of New Salem and grew up with much power.

Though he hasn't appeared physically in Agatha All Along, his presence is hinted at through references like his childhood bedroom, drawings, and an image in Agnes O'Connor's office. Agatha Harkness' pendant possibly holds a lock of his hair. His absence, paired with allusions to his tragic end, deepens Agatha's villainous portrayal in the series. However, when she left him behind, things got difficult between him and Agatha. Nicholas was angry at his mother and turns into a powerful warlock.

In the series Agatha All Along, Nicholas’s story is hinted at but not fully revealed yet. In episode 1, Agnes talks about a boy named Nicky, which is a subtle clue. The Teen character, played by Joe Locke, might also have something to do with Nicholas.

His work with dark magic is another component of his past that ties in with this story. For a while, Nicholas Scratch worked for Mephisto, the red demon from the Marvel universe. After being banished to Hell, he agreed to serve Mephisto, which led to darker consequences.

When Agatha encounters Teen, there seems to be an eerie connection. He can't talk about himself because magical forces have silenced him. This points to a more complex past, possibly involving Agatha's son, Nicholas Scratch.

As Agatha comes out of Wanda's spell, she might learn more about what happened to her son and how his power could affect what happens in Westview. Agatha once owned the Darkhold before Wanda Maximoff stole it in WandaVision. Agatha’s desire to reclaim the book suggests it may symbolize her connection to her lost son.

In the third episode, inside the residence on Witches Road, Jennifer Kale warns Teen that he must not trust Agatha. Jennifer's words, that she may have “exchanged her son for the book of the damned," sounds merely a rumor without proof.

Moreover, in the second episode, Jennifer Kale jokingly asks Agatha whether Teen is "another child sacrifice." This also speculates if Nicholas is indeed still alive or if something more sinister happened.

According to the comics, Nicholas is also in charge of the Salem Seven, a group of magically gifted people who eventually turn against Agatha. The series, Agatha All Along has successfully woven Nicholas Scratch’s legacy into the fabric of the MCU, leaving viewers with questions about his fate.
