Episode four of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix depicts the heinous murder of a 24-year-old female Alisha Canales-McGuire, the sister of Amanda Canales, who was shot and killed on September 20, 2017, at Amanda's doorway. Alisha was the happiest of the Canales' daughters, therefore her death devastated the family.
The new true-crime docuseries on Netflix titled Worst Ex Ever arrived on the streamer on August 28, 2024, with four spine-chilling true-crime cases based on real incidents.
Episode four also documents the horrendous experiences Amanda Canales, an Everett resident, had post-marriage, following which her sister was slain. The episode is titled 'Married to a Monster.' The official synopsis of the same as per Netflix reads:
"Amanda and Kevin's seemingly perfect romance crumbles when marriage exposes his controlling nature. After their divorce, a chilling murder plot unfolds."

Alisha Canales-McGuire died on the spot
As depicted in episode four of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix, on the evening of September 20, 2017, when Amanda was out of town for work, she left her three children with her sister Alisha Canales-McGuire, and their nanny Abigail.
As the night arrived and everyone in the house went to bed, Alisha Canales-McGuire was on the couch downstairs, looking after Isiah, Amanda’s son. Late at night, the doorbell rang, and she saw a female asking to come in.
Just as Alisha Canales-McGuire half-opened the door, there were multiple shots fired at her. She fell on the stairs behind her, and the scene was filled with blood. On hearing the gunshots, Abigail got up and found Alisha in a horrendous state, after which she called 911.
Who killed Alisha Canales-McGuire?
As shown in episode four of Worst Ex Ever, Alisha Canales-McGuire was killed by Jerradon Phelps, who was assisted by his girlfriend Alexis Hale. Jerradon was originally paid $2400 by Amanda’s ex-husband Kevin, who was Jerradon’s cousin.
Post-marriage, Amanda had gone out of the house after Kevin had punched her in the eye and attacked her after he wanted to see her phone. In June 2017, Amanda was again attacked by Kevin in her car outside her new residence. The attack left Amanda severely injured and necessitated hospital admission. She then filed complaints and obtained a protection order for herself and her children.
Following Amanda's divorce filing and kid custody claim, Kevin became determined to kill her. However, the plan went wrong, as Kevin’s cousin shot Alisha instead of Amanda Canales and fled the scene.
Post-murder, the cops got a tip call and discovered that it was Jerradon and Alexis who were behind the killing. The cops also found a CCTV image of their car moving towards Amanda’s house on the day of the murder, Snapchat records of Jerradon flexing the dollar bills, phone records, and Kevin’s bank statements, which proved that he had given the killer the money.
Alexis and Jerradon confessed to the killing of Alisha Canales-McGuire on interrogation and also revealed that Kevin had tipped them.
Soon, in 2020, Alexis Hale was sentenced to 15 years in prison for actively taking part in the murder. Phelps was sentenced to 32 years in prison. Kevin Lewis was charged with first-degree murder in 2021 and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
