Bam Margera was born on September 28, 1979, and grew up in the neighborhood of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Back in 1993, his father bought him a video camera, after he was enrolled into a digital media class. This is where Maergera first met the future CKY crew partner Chris Raab. Soon Margera and his group of friends began to shoot skating stunt videos.

This turned into a collection of video films, which later turned out to be the CKY video series. As per a Tribune News Service article, published on July 19, 2001, Margera went on to work in a series of CKY films, primarily featuring Chris Raab, Art Webb, Ryan Dunn, and Brandon DiCamillo, which went on to be known as the CKY crew.

Soon they began to receive collaborations from major skateboarding brands, and music bands, which grabbed the attention of Jeff Tremaine, former editor of skating culture magazine Big Brother. They went on to collaborate on the hit 2000 reality show Jackass, broadcasted on MTV. Bram Margera primarily appeared as the lead cast, followed by other CYK members, in the supporting cast.

The popularity of Jackass spanned into spin-offs and film franchises. In 2020, Bram Margera was disbanded from the team of Jackass Forever after failing a drug test. As per New York Daily News article, published on July 21, 2009, the his addiction issues started back in 2003, when he was given the Jackass spin-off series Viva La Bam. He was often seen intoxicated on the sets.

This took a grave turn in July 2009, when he was admitted for emergency care after continuously drinking alcohol for four days. In December 2009, when he was admitted to rehab, however, he opted out four days later, without completing the treatment. His addiction reportedly intensified after his close childhood friend Ryan Dunn from the CKY crew, died in 2011.

Margera was admitted to rehab for the second time in 2015. After completing his treatment, he took part in the reality TV series Family Therapy with Dr. Jean in 2016. He then shifted to Barcelona, to try to kickstart his skateboarding career back again, however, he relocated to Pennsylvania back in 2017.

Per an Entertainment Tonight article published on August 4, 2019, Margera released a series of Instagram videos, providing a public apology and asking Dr. Phil for help with his treatment.

However, after taking more than a year of therapy, Margera relapsed again, when he ran away from his rehab center in June 2022. Things took a grave turn when on December 9, 2022, Margera was hospitalized and put on a ventilator, after contracting COVID-19.

As per TMZ, in February 2023, his wife Nikki Boyd filed for separation and asked for sole custody of their son Phoenix alongside child support. In a video shared on his social media accounts, Bam Margera complained that his wife didn't allow him to see their son Phoenix, and threatened to smoke crack until he is dead if he isn't allowed to meet his son.

In September 2024, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and related counts. At the time, he was on probation after pleading guilty to assaulting his brother and making threats to his other family members in June 2023.

The former skating star was taken into the Chester County Prison, in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
