The Bever Family witnessed one of the most gruesome familicides, leaving six members dead
The Bever family was based out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and lived in one of the larger houses in their area. The family consisted of two parents, David Bever (54), and April Bever (45), and their seven children, Robert (19), Michael (16), Crystal (13), Daniel (12), Christopher (6), Victoria (5), and Autumn (2).
As per reports by the police, the children were homeschooled, and the Bever family was reclusive and kept to themselves. Further interviews of the two brothers by the police revealed that their father David was abusive, and the parents often talked about Biblical retribution for the people they hated.
The eldest sons Robert and Michael shared an interest in serial killings and mass murders and even ordered huge amounts of ammunition and bullet-proof vests leading up to their homicidal spree. The parents disregarded their peculiar behavior, thinking it was normal teenage behavior.
However, on the night of July 22, 2015, Robert grabbed his sister from behind and slit her neck after Michael tricked her into entering a bedroom under the guise of showing her something on a computer. He stabbed Crystal in the abdomen and arms after she resisted.
When the boys' mother heard the disturbance, she went upstairs. Robert greeted her and proceeded to stab her 48 times. In the meantime, Crystal managed to slink off in an attempt to keep her younger siblings safe. However, the two brothers proceeded to continue their spree.
They stabbed their father David 28 times. Their younger brother Daniel (12) had locked himself in a room and alerted the police from a phone. However, he was lured out by Michael, who pretended to be stabbed by Robert. Daniel was stabbed to death when he let Michael in for refuge.
Following that, they discovered that Victoria and Christopher, their other two siblings, had locked themselves in the bathroom. Michael attempted to convince them to unlock the door by claiming that Robert was also attempting to kill him. Unfortunately, six-year-old Christopher trusted his brother, and when he slightly opened the door, Michael kicked it in, and Robert killed them both.
They had dragged in Crystal, who had managed to crawl out of the house and tried to kill her by suffocating her. However, the police had arrived at the house, and the brothers had to flee. Their youngest sibling, Autumn (2), was left unharmed, and Crystal was found with her organs spilling out but still alive.
Upon being caught by the police, the brothers were not upset and boasted about their murderous spree. As per later reports by the police, the brothers wanted to become media famous through mass murder. They had even planned to go on a shooting spree after killing the Bever family.
The gruesome details about the Bever Family murders are explored in the upcoming episode of People Magazine Presents: Crimes of the 2010s.
