Worst Ex Ever is a true crime Netflix series directed by Cynthia Childs. Released on August 28, 2024, the series has four episodes and looks at the scary side of relationships. It tells stories of lies, abuse, and cheating from people who experienced terrible things from their ex-partners.
Worst Ex Ever follows real-life stories of survivors and their families with the help of interviews and actors who recreate the victims' experiences. Viewers will get to see testimonies of many people, including those who experienced the abuse and the police officers who worked to bring the abusers to justice.
Each episode of Worst Ex Ever tells a different story, like Benjamin Foster's violent actions in Oregon, Jerry Ramrattan's crime in New York, Rosa and Mei Li's plan to take custody in California, and Kevin Lewis's revenge in Washington. These stories show us the risks that can be hidden in normal relationships and the strength of people who make it through them.
The criminals shown in Netflix's Worst Ex Ever
1) Benjamin Foster – Episode 1: Dating the Devil
Episode 1 of Worst Ex Ever shows the terrorizing actions of Benjamin Foster come to light when he attacks his ex-girlfriend, Amber. Amber described Foster as "obsessed" with weapons and often had violent fits. He nearly cut her finger and still didn't stop there.
Foster continued his torture on his next girlfriend, Justine Siemens. In 2023, Foster attacked Siemens and ran away to save himself from the police. On this run, Foster became more violent and killed two hostages before he went back to Grants Pass, Oregon.
It was first suspected that he might be hiding in his girlfriend's house, but during the second search, the police found a hidden basement under Foster's house. By the time they could figure out the mystery of his disappearance, Benjamin killed himself to escape the arrest.
2) Jerry Ramrattan – Episode 2: Betrayed By the Badge
Episode 2 of Worst Ex Ever shows how Jerry Ramrattan faked his identity to impress a girl, Seemona Sumasar, following which they both got into a relationship. He claimed to be a cop and detective for the Brooklyn district attorney's office, but Seemona eventually learned the truth.
When she confronted Jerry, he raped her, following which Seemona filed a case of rape against him. But before the trial could begin, Seemona was wrongfully arrested under false charges set by Jerry with the motive to keep Seemona away so the rape case trial would not take place.
The truth was soon uncovered, and it was revealed that Seemona was innocent, and this was a plan laid by Jerry. Eventually, the trial began, and Jerry was sentenced to 32 years.
He was sanctioned under the charges of first-degree rape, first-degree perjury, fifth-degree conspiracy, third-degree tampering with a witness, and third-degree falsely reporting an incident. Jerry would be eligible for parole in 2031.
3) Rosa and Mei – Episode 3: Killing for Custody
Worst Ex Ever episode 3 shows the reality of Eric Hill and Rosa's marriage. Eric and Rosa dated for a few years and got married. The couple was blessed with a daughter the following year, but their marriage didn't work out. Rosa threw Eric out of her house, and he went to live at his grandmother, Sally Hill's house.
Eric and Rosa got into a nasty custodial battle of their daughter, which led to Rosa and her mother, Mei, killing Sally with the aim to trap Eric in her grandmother's murder. The mother-daughter duo executed "Operation Custody" to remove Eric from their way and get full custody of the child.
Rosa and Mei were trailed, following which Rosa was imprisoned for 29 years, making her eligible for parole in 2029, and Rosa was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment.
4) Kevin Lewis – Episode 4: Married to a Monster
The last episodes of Worst Ex Ever center around Amanda Canales, who was married to Kevin Lewis. The couple started their family when they got married, but their marriage took a dark turn as Lewis started assaulting Canales. Amanda let it go for the first time, but the second time Lewis assaulted her, she reported him and asked for complete custody of their children, with Lewis paying child support.
In 2017, Kevin hired a 17-year-old woman and a 20-year-old boy to assassinate Amanda, but the killers shot Amanda's sister instead of her. The two individuals were convicted of first-degree murder, and Lewis was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment under the charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation to commit murder.
