Grace first appeared in the show's pilot episode, which aired on January 19, 2020. She played an integral part in the series as a 9-1-1 dispatcher married to the firefighter, Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack).

The couple welcomed a daughter, Charlie Ryder, in the third season. Her last appearance took place in season 4's finale episode titled 'In Sickness and In Health', which aired on May 16, 2023.

In the first episode of season 5, titled 'Both Sides, Now,' Judd reveals that Grace answered God's calling and left her family to volunteer with Mercy Ships. She was moved to join the faith-based organization after it gave a presentation at her church. Mercy Ships is a real charity group that helps people throughout the world by performing life-saving surgeries in regions where resources are scarce.

Judd defended his wife's decision to leave by saying that she knew it was "terrible timing". He also added that he was proud of Grace's decision and loved his wife more in that moment. Grace was a person of faith and hence, it's understandable that she would only leave her loving family behind in service of God.

With Grace's departure, Judd is left to raise their daughter on his own. His situation is further complicated, as he's also the sole caretaker of his adult son (from a previous relationship), Wyatt Harris (Jackson Pace).

He was left paralyzed in a bicycling accident in the show's previous season. With Grace gone, Wyatt becomes the new 9-1-1 dispatcher in the final chapter of 9-1-1: Lone Star.
