Ahead of the episode, let us find out more about who Joey Weatherwax was and what happened to him.

Who was Joey Weatherwax?

Born on November 21, 1981, to Kathy Campbell of Herndon and Donald Charles Weatherwax, Joey Weatherwax was a native of Christian County, Kentucky, and was raised there as well. While not a lot is known about his personal life, he was a member of the Little Red House of Prayer.

As revealed in the court documents, Weatherwax grew up in an extended family in Christian County, which also included his cousin, Micah Holland. Both Holland and Weatherwax reportedly suffered from emotional issues from a young age and both of them experienced difficulties with alcohol and illegal drug use.

As revealed in Investigation Discovery's preview of the episode, the problem between Joey and Micah began when Joey was in prison. While he was in prison, his wife, Christina, started getting close to Micah, much to the concern of the family members.

This led to a problem after Joey came back, and Christina ended up leaving him for his cousin, Micah, leading to a permanent feud between the two. There were multiple altercations between the two before as well.

Joey Weatherwax allegedly probed his cousin to confront him and armed himself with a two-by-four board. When Micah Holland arrived, Weatherwax reportedly charged at him with the board and Micah fired a gunshot from his open car window, leading to the death of Weatherwax.

While fleeing the crime scene, Micah further ran over Weatherwax with his car. The official cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the chest.

Micah Holland would soon be arrested and charged with the murder. Despite his pleas of self-defense, the jury found him guilty, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, which he continues to serve.
