The upcoming episode of A Plan to Kill will replay the murder of Sam Herr and Julie Kibuishi, who were both killed by Daniel Wozniak in May 2010.
The detectives initially discovered Julie's body in Sam’s apartment and believed him to be the prime suspect. However, Sam was also found dead and it was later known that the same person killed Sam Herr and Julie Kibuishi.
A Plan to Kill season 1 episode 10, titled Killer Friendship, will focus on this double homicide. It will air on Oxygen on December 29 at 7 pm ET.

As per reports by Oxygen True Crime, Steve Herr, Sam’s father went to check on Sam in May 2010 and found Julie Kibuishi lying dead in Sam’s bedroom. The 26-year-old army veteran's son was nowhere near the crime scene, which made him the primary suspect in her murder.
As per Oxygen True Crime, Sam and Julie shared a “pseudo-brother and sister relationship.” However, what struck a chord with the detectives were the unusual texts Sam had sent to Julie right before she was murdered. Sam called Julie to his apartment, telling her that he was upset and needed to talk to someone. Julie, who was concerned went to check on Sam.
The next morning, when Julie didn’t return home, her mother June alerted the authorities that she had gone missing. Sam's father then discovered her at his apartment.
When Julie’s deceased body was discovered, she was wearing a tiara gifted to her by her brother. She was shot in the back of the head twice and her jeans were pulled down, which was meant to deceive authorities into speculating that this could be a case of se*ual assault. Additionally, the phrases, "F*ck You" and "All Yours" were written across Julie’s T-shirt,
Who killed Julie Kibuishi and Sam Herr?
After Julie’s death, when the investigators tracked down Sam’s finances, they discovered that his ATM card was used to withdraw money and to pay in a pizza parlor. Surveillance footage from the ATM revealed that the person who had been using Sam’s card was not Sam Herr but an individual named Wesley Freilich.
The police soon learned that the card was given to Wesley by a theatre actor, Dan Wozniak, who was Sam’s neighbor. When Wozniak was interrogated, he kept altering his statements. Firstly, he claimed that he had Sam Herr’s bank card as a part of an insurance scheme.
In the next instance, he stated that Sam Herr killed Julie Kibuishi in a “drug-induced haze” as per Oxygen True Crime and hence had to go on a run. Wozniak, therefore helped Sam with money and was in possession of his card.
Dan Wozniak later recanted his statements once more claiming that Sam had threatened to kill Wozniak and his fiance, hence he was forced to help the alleged killer.
Wozniak next told the detectives that he didn’t know where Sam was and that he had dropped him at the center parking lot and then got rid of Sam’s automobile.
In the end, Dan Wozniak confessed that he killed both Sam and Julie so that he could access Sam’s savings ($62000) and use the money to plan his own wedding.
Dan Wozniak revealed how he lured and shot Sam Herr twice in a nearby theatre, after which he took his phone, lured Julie Kibuishi into Sam's home, and killed her in a similar manner. He also staged the crime scene to divert suspicions towards Sam.
Sam Herr’s body was dismembered by Wozniak and the parts were disposed of around town. The victim's torso however hidden in the theatre attic and the rest of the body parts were also discovered by the authorises in the coming days.
Dan Wozniak was sentenced to death in September 2016 and was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder. Rachel Buffet, Wozniak's finance was also charged with accessory to murder after the fact and sentenced to 32 months in 2018, after the investigators refused to believe that she didn’t have a part in this double homicide.
