The upcoming episode of Investigation Discovery's See No Evil is set to delve into the brutal murder of Laura Pietscher. She was killed in her hometown, Sebring, Florida, by Gary Tyrone Danielle. The motive of the murder remains a mystery as investigators could not really decipher why the murderer went after the 28-year-old woman.
This case, dating back to 2018, is the subject of See No Evil season 13, episode 4, which will air on August 28, 2024, at 9 pm on ID. The synopsis of the episode reads:
"When Laura Pietscher, a 28-year-old resident of Sebring, Florida, turns up dead in a dumpster 90 miles away in Tampa, detectives turn to CCTV footage to trace her fatal journey and identify her murderer."
The case saw an intense investigation and fruitful results, as her murderer was caught and sentenced. Though her family wasn't happy about the 30-year sentence that Gary Tyrone Danielle received, the case was at least resolved and the killer remains behind bars as of today.
Who was Laura Pietscher and what happened to her?
Laura Pietscher was born in December 1989 to Art and Linda Pietscher in Livonia in Wayne County, Michigan. As someone with a disability from birth, Laura had to face her share of struggles from an early age. She was born with a shorter left arm and it led to a lot of bullying and name-calling.
However, with her undying spirit and positivity, Laura Pietscher remained unfazed by this and eventually started making jokes about herself. She was raised in a loving household with two siblings in La Selle, Michigan. In the fall of 2016, she relocated to Michigan Avenue in Sebring to look after her grandmother.
Even after her grandmother passed away, she chose to stay in Sebring and try out her dream of becoming a Correctional Officer. Her trainer allegedly did not think she could do it, but she proved him wrong and continued to show her unwavering spirit. She also worked as a job coach at Goodwill.
Everything seemed to be going well for the 28-year-old when things changed all of a sudden. On October 19, 2018, the Sebring police department received a call from a local restaurant, at 3712 North 15th Street in Tampa. They had allegedly discovered the dead body of a woman at a dumpster stuffed in a bag hidden under a wooden board.
Her belongings were intact and a fingerprint test was conducted to identify the woman as Laura Pietscher. A detailed report revealed the cause of death to be ligature strangulation. Her vehicle was also missing from the scene. This would become the key to cracking the case.
Who killed Laura Pietscher?
As authorities started the investigations, they tried to interview and interrogate all her acquaintances. A breakthrough came when her truck was spotted near 111 County Line Road in the Plant City area. The police subsequently cornered this truck and noticed blood stains on the door.
They immediately took the driver in. Calvin Gary, who was driving the truck, revealed that he got it from a man named "Hot." This was Gary Tyrone Danielle. He was also captured in surveillance footage and also had a DNA match.
He was eventually arrested and sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of the 28-year-old woman. He continues to serve his sentence as of today.
The upcoming episode of See No Evil will cover this case in more detail.
