The upcoming episode of People Magazine Presents: Crimes Of The 2010s is all set to cover the murder of Tim McNamara, a Soap Lake, Washington, resident who was murdered in Belize, Central America after he moved there with his wife. In what can be considered a shocking taboo, his wife was also his biological niece, which forced him to leave Soap Lake in the first place.

The fifth episode of People Magazine Presents: Crimes Of The 2010s, titled The Deadliest Taboo, will cover this case in detail. It is set to air on August 23, 2024, at 8.00 PM EST. The synopsis for the episode reads:

"Fights over land and money divide an eastern Washington family amidst allegations of incest, betrayal, and murder. Was a taboo romance to blame for one father's death? Or are there deeper issues at play?"

McNamara was found dead on a farm he purchased in Belize by Tracy Nessl, his niece and lover. While there have been claims that Nessl murdered Tim for financial gain, there has been nothing concrete against her.

Moreover, a warrant for the arrest of Tracy Nessl was taken out in Belize, but because she had moved back to Soap Lake before that, it remained unresolved.

There are still questions surrounding Tim McNamara's murder that remain unanswered.

Tim McNamara was born on December 10, 1948, to John Edward McNamara and Margaret Edith Ibbitson McNamara. The family was wealthy and prominent in the region, which allowed Tim to have a privileged upbringing. He inherited an apple orchard that he maintained throughout his life.

By 2012, he was divorced three times and had two children, Jennifer and Caleb McNamara. It was during this time that he met Tracy Shannon Nessl, who was biologically related to him but was not in contact with him for a long time. She was the daughter of his brother. The two soon started a romantic relationship, which raised many eyebrows around Soap Lake.

Since the disapproval from the community members continued, Tim McNamara and Tracy Nessl decided to move in 2013. They purchased a farm in Belize and moved there to lead a happy life. They also got married following this, and Tim allegedly transferred most of his assets to Tracy.

On December 25, 2014, Tracy called the police to report that she found her husband shot to death in their backyard. She claimed that she did not know what to do and ran to the neighbor to call for help.

When the police inquired, she revealed that she had discovered Tim lying face-up on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back of his head after she came out of the house hearing a gunshot. Tim had allegedly gone to check outside with his handgun after he heard dogs barking.

The initial assumption was a suicide, but further investigation revealed that it was a murder. Still, nothing was really done before Nessl left for Soap Lake. When the warrant was taken out in 2015, she was beyond their reach.

Tim's children continued alleging that she was responsible for their father's death, and they even initiated a civil lawsuit against her. Though Nessl lost the civil lawsuit, there have been no further criminal cases against her in Soap Lake, Washington.
