As shown in the docu-series Meet Marry Murder on Lifetime previously, Tim Pasa, a musician and guitar lover, was killed by his spouse, Barbara Pasa, on May 5, 2018. Tim’s body was discovered inside his house bedroom. The neighbors made the 911 call to inform the authorities about the fire.

Tim was the only person present inside the house and was found dead by the law officers. The fire was contained to one room, and Tim’s body was lethally burned, with his bedroom charred.

Initially, detectives and crime officers thought that Tim had died due to an accidental fire that led to carbon monoxide poisoning, making it difficult for him to breathe before he was burned. However, the autopsy report and other evidence revealed a different story.

How was Tim Pasa killed?

Barbara used Propofol to kill Tim. His autopsy report confirmed that his death was due to acute drug intoxication. As a hospital nurse, Barbara had easy access to this drug. Detectives speculated how she could have injected Tim, as she had easy access to the drug and also knew how to inject it.

As shown in Meet Marry Murder season one, episode three previously, Tim and Barbara married in October 2000 and soon had a son and a daughter. Tim’s friend, Rick Parker, revealed that the marriage seemed odd as Barb and Tim were polar opposites.

Barb’s friends and colleagues, Carson and Meghan, also revealed that Barbara was an attention seeker who would always like to be a perfectionist. She wanted to show the community that she was a perfect mother and wife. However, the bigger picture was something else.

Barbara, who loved decorating the house and indulging in shopping and luxury items, was a hospice nurse. She was promoted in 2017. However, as revealed by Special Agent Don Schnitker in Meet Marry Murder, the family was in deep financial trouble. However, Barbara’s friends claimed that she never showed any signs of poverty or struggle.

After Tim’s death, detectives learned from Tim’s son that Tim wanted to divorce Barbara. His son also suspected his mother of killing Tim and revealed to the detectives that she could have poisoned Tim's food.

The detectives also found the fire in the house very strange, as it was contained in one room, where Tim was sleeping. According to Barbara, she had lit a candle to get rid of the foul smell, which she claimed could have caused the fire. However, the detectives found it strange how a grown male could not get out of his house to save himself.

What struck a cord in the detectives was when they saw how a smoke detector's battery was strangely removed. At this point, the fire seemed more intentional and didn’t look like a mechanical or an electrical fire, as shown in the docu-series Meet Marry Murder on Lifetime previously.

Upon further investigation, the detectives found out that Barbara, who claimed to be miles away when the fire occurred, had actually left the house only minutes before, which was also confirmed by her neighbors. Video footage and mobile location confirmed the same.

It was also suspicious that Barbara never called Tim to check on him after hearing about the fire. Additionally, she resisted the idea of an autopsy shortly after the tragedy. She had also increased Tim’s life insurance recently, which again seemed odd.

As the detectives speculated, shown in the docu-series Meet Marry Murder, Barbara killed Tim to benefit from his life insurance. She also didn’t want to divorce Tim, which might have driven her to commit this crime, as Tim wanted a divorce.

The autopsy report confirmed that Tim was killed due to a drug overdose. In September 2019, the jury convicted Barbara Pasa of first-degree murder. Later that year, she was sentenced to life without any chances of parole, with an added 25 years for first-degree arson.
