As per reports, the Sunbury police chief Steve Mazzeo was the first one to reach the scene and discover Troy’s deceased body. Troy's body was bound with a cord and there was blood everywhere. He had been stabbed multiple times before his body was dumped by the assassins.

As investigations started to unfold, the Sunbury detectives found out that Troy LaFerrara although being married, was particularly interested in dating sites and Craigslist. The police checked Troy’s cell phone and found out that Miranda Barbar was the last person Troy had contacted before he was killed.

As per reports and also shown in the official interrogation footage, we get to know that Troy LaFerrara, the victim was in contact with a girl named Miranda Barbour, who had just moved to Pennsylvania.

Miranda was brought into interrogation, three weeks after Troy was killed. However, at first, she refused to be involved and also didn’t cooperate with the authorities who asked her to turn her phone in for investigation. She said that she had plans to meet Troy after they had mingled via Craigslist however they never met.

Miranda’s husband Elytte was also interrogated. As per reports, Elytte Barbour revealed to the authorities that he did not know anything about Troy however he knew that Miranda would charge men to meet them and have conversations with them. She was a listener, and she never engaged in anything carnal.

7 hours after the first time Miranda was interrogated, she again came back to the Sunbury police and turned herself in saying that she killed Troy, however, it was an act of self-defense. According to Miranda, she met Troy and while they were in Miranda’s car, Troy attacked her and touched her inappropriately.

In the interrogation footage, Miranda said,

“His (Troy's) one hand was on my throat …. other hand was touching me down there ….”

As per the reports, she attacked Troy more than 20 times and stabbed him in his groin, chest, and neck. Miranda’s husband also changed his prior statement and said that he was in the backseat of the car, covered in a blanket for perfect camouflage. He confessed to killing Troy together with his wife. Elytte Barbour claims to have wrapped a cord around Troy’s neck to hurt him and leave him dead.
