One of Netflix's spooky episodes, Unsolved Mysteries volume 1, episode 3, House of Terror, centers on Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. The episode explores his unexplained disappearance and the horrifying crime he is suspected of.

The bodies of his spouse and their four kids were found buried under their Nantes, France, patio in April 2011. Xavier had used a firearm with a .22 caliber to shoot everyone. When Xavier disappeared, it set off a protracted manhunt and global mystery.

Over the years, there have been many sightings and leads, but Xavier's whereabouts are still unknown. There are many different theories regarding his destiny, such as suicide or taking on a new identity. In 2019, a man was detained in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2019 on suspicion of being Xavier. He was eventually freed after DNA testing revealed he wasn't.

Both the public and authorities are still fascinated by this case. Xavier's disappearance has generated numerous inquiries and media attention, but no clear conclusions have been reached. His tale is a prime example of the unsettling appeal of true crime mysteries where the boundaries between fact and conjecture are blurred, and a lingering sense of unresolved business remains.

The last confirmed sighting of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès was in southern France. He was seen on camera on April 15, 2011, taking money out of an ATM in the Var department's little town of Roquebrune-sur-Argens. His car was discovered abandoned at a neighboring hotel parking lot shortly after.

This is still the only verified sighting of Xavier, despite many sightings and thorough searches. Several countries, including Scotland and the US, have reported sightings in the past, but none of them have been verified.

Is Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès still alive?

There's a lot of speculation surrounding whether Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès is still alive. There hasn't been any solid proof of his present whereabouts or verified sightings since his disappearance in April 2011.

Some speculate that he may have killed himself in a remote location; his body has not yet been located. Many theories speculate that he might be residing under a fictitious persona.

A possible breakthrough happened in 2019 when a man who looked like Xavier was taken into custody in Glasgow, Scotland. DNA testing, however, swiftly ruled out the possibility and established the man's identity as not being Xavier.

The case remains open-ended due to the absence of definitive proof, and one of the most intriguing aspects of this mystery is the continued uncertainty about Xavier's status as living or deceased.
