Your Honor, a Showtime drama that premiered on December 6, 2020, revived the suspenseful feel of Breaking Bad with Bryan Cranston's performance. Developed by Peter Moffat, the show is based on the Israeli series Kvodo by Shlomo Mashiach. Initially a miniseries, it was renewed for a second season in 2023.
Cranston plays Michael Desiato, an honest New Orleans judge who gets entangled in lies to protect his son after the boy hits a motorcyclist with his car and flees. He finds out that the guy killed in the accident is Rocco Baxter, the son of a ruthless crime lord Jimmy Baxter. This soon throws Cranston into a moral dilemma.

It is to be noted, that in the final episode of Your Honor season 1, Kofi's brother Eugene mistakenly kills Michael's son Adam. Eugene intended to kill Carlo, who had murdered his brother and burned his family, but missed and hit Adam instead. The season ends with Michael holding his dying son and howling in agony.

In season 2, Eugene is on a constant run, getting chased by the authorities that he had committed. In the end, he is caught and kept on trial. The prosecutors offer him a deal to share information about the Baxter family, and in return, he gets to lead a normal life, with police protection.
Michael confesses all his crimes including falsely bailing out Carlo, so he is sent back behind bars. With most of the secrets out of Eugene, the Baxter family starts to crumble. Eugene finally gets revenge for his family and accepts the deal of starting a new life. While in the end, Michael forgives him for killing Adam, knowing it has always been destined.
Eugene starts a new life in Your Honor series finale
It should be noted that the connection between Eugene's family with Michael comes from the beginning of Your Honor season 1.
In the beginning, Michael is a well-respected judge who agrees to indulge in the cases personally, to find out the truth. A case arrives, where a black woman is blamed to have been allegedly selling drugs. The entire fate of her trial rests on the statement of a racist cop.
Michael, to know the unbiased truth about the case, runs to the house of the colored woman, to find out if the cop is telling the truth. The woman turns out to be Famali Jones, who is both the mother of Kofi and Eugene.
Though Michael helps the woman get a righteous trial, eventually as the story progresses, Michael's morals begin to break down. To cover up the murder by his son, Michael frames the innocent young man Kofi to be the culprit behind the hit-and-run case. The family begs Michael to prove her son not guilty, but he denies it.
This leads Kofi to end up serving imprisonment without doing any crime. In the prison, Kofi gets murdered by Rocoo's brother, Carlo who was already serving confinement for another crime. Also, Kofi's entire home is burned by members of Baxter's gang, killing everyone except for Eugene. He becomes an orphan who has to bury his entire family.
This leads him towards an unshakable hunger for revenge. Michael helps to get Carlo out of prison, misusing his power, and the Baxter family throws up a party for Carlo's verdict. Michael's son Adam also attends the party invited by Fia. Eugene sneaks into this party with a gun intending to kill Carlo.
Right when Eugene takes up the gun to shoot Carlo, it accidentally misses him and shoots right in the neck of Adam, who was behind. We see the irony that Adam is accidentally killed in a hit-and-run episode, exactly like he killed Rocco. Michael runs to the event but is too late to save his son.
In Your Honor season 2, we find Eugene running away running away from the police after killing Adam. But soon he is caught, and taken to trial by the authorities. They soon discover that he was acting as revenge as the Baxter's killed his entire family.
The prosecutors realizing it, offer him a deal. He has to share all of his knowledge about the Baxter family, and he would be given a chance to live a normal life with witness protection by the law. Eugene helps the authorities take out the Baxter family. The gang slowly starts to dismantle Jimmy after getting killed by a rival gang. With the business done, Eugene accepts the offer and starts a new life, this time as an orphan.
What happens at the end of Your Honor?
After his son's death, Michael is left with nothing to hold onto. In the second season of Your Honor, we see him leaving his position of Judge. He confesses his corrupt acquittal behind the release of Carlo to assistant U.S. attorney Olivia Delmont. As a result, he is recruited to take down the Baxter family.
Having his son buried in the ground, he has nothing to care for. He accepts the job, is sent into the prison fabricated for tax fraud, and soon gets bail. Once, out on his mission, he realizes that Fia is carrying the baby of Adam. This leads him to get more immersed in the Baxter family. Michael soon is introduced to Carmine Conti, a rival gang of the Baxter family, who are waging a cold war.
Gina, the daughter of Carmine Conti, persuades her father to kill Jimmy Baxter, which destabilizes the Baxter family and ends the Cold War. Carlo is found guilty, and Eugene receives justice. Michael completes his final mission by confessing to covering up Adam's murder. He is sentenced to imprisonment but accepts his fate with peace of mind.
Your Honor makes one realize, how a man's one single wrong decision can start a chain reaction, that leads everything towards doom. The series stands as a testimony of how the Domino effect takes its toll. Your Honor becomes one of Bryan Cranston's best performances after Breaking Bad.
