From chilling accidents and natural disasters to hair-raising animal attacks, the show brings to us firsthand accounts, expert insights, and even essential lessons that we can learn from these incidents and what to avoid in the future.

Hosted by American journalist, news anchor, and notable television producer Tony Harris, History's Most Shocking premieres today January 27, 2025, on History Channel.

History Channel has released a long and detailed official synopsis of the show. The full synopsis is given below:

These are the moments that populate the pantheon of History’s Most Shocking. This show takes viewers frame-by-frame into the most significant mind-blowing events ever caught on camera. "

It continues:

"From chilling accidents to natural disasters to extreme sports fails to harrowing animal attacks, History’s Most Shocking is a deep dive into the extreme, uncovering the truth behind what happened. It not only captivates the eye; it also provides key takeaways into what went wrong, and what needs to be avoided in the future."

The synopsis further reads:

"With compelling first-person narratives from the people who lived through these seminal moments and expert analysis identifying the miscalculations and misjudgments that caused them, History’s Most Shocking won’t just keep you on edge of your seat…. It will teach you the history lessons you were never taught in school."

History's Most Shocking releases today, January 27, 2025, on History Channel. It will be available to stream from tomorrow on the app or website.

All about the host of History's Most Shocking

History's Most Shocking will be hosted by Tony Harris, who is an American journalist, news anchor, and television producer, best known for his anchoring on Al Jazeera English, Al Jazeera America, and CNN.

Tony Harris hails from Maryland and he got his BA degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Harris began his career in broadcasting as a radio disc jockey before being hired by WJW-TV where he spent 10 years. Harris was also a weekend news anchor in Cleveland, Ohio at WKYC (Channel 3) and during his time there he won a local Emmy Award.

In 1993, Tony Harris joined Fox Network's prime-time newsmagazine Front Page before joining CNN in September 2004 where he soon became an anchor for CNN Newsroom. He joined as an anchor on Al Jazeera English in 2011 and began working on the Investigation Discovery Channel in 2015 for a project with the Southern Poverty Law Center. He also hosted a program called The Proof is Out There which aired Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on the History Channel, in 2021.
