Marvel Entertainment's What If...? season 3 episode 7 aired via Disney+ on December 28, 2024. The segment, titled What If... the Watcher Disappeared?, explored the storyline where the Watcher himself fell into danger. A team of heroes banded together to save him, led by the super-soldier Captain Carter.

At the end of the episode, the Eminence told the Watcher that Peggy Carter and her team would have to be stopped before they meddled with more of the multiverse. After this, he abducted Peggy in a surge of energy from where she was meeting the Infinity Ultron. At present, the Watcher is safe, but it seems that Peggy is in mortal peril at the hands of the Eminence.

Luckily, her team is on her track. Byrdie, Storm, and Kahhori fused the Infinity Ultron with the last shard of the Watcher's realm so that they could travel beyond their reality and arrive to help Captain Carter.
How did Captain Carter find out that the Watcher was in danger?
The episode began with a giant intergalactic squid monster launching an attack on the planet Xander. Nova Prime Nebula tried to engage her forces in a counter-attack but seemed short-staffed. Luckily, Captain Carter arrived right on time with her team of heroes to defeat the monster.
Apart from Captain Carter, the team included Byrdie the Duck, Kahhori of the Mohawk Nation, and Storm the Goddess of Thunder. After defeating the squid, they noticed crystal shards from the observational plane on the floor. Peggy recognized the shards as part of the Watcher's realm and took them as a sign that the Watcher had been attacked.

Was it possible for the team to reach the Watcher's realm with the shards?
The Eminence imprisoned the Watcher in the fifth dimension, ordinarily inaccessible to non-Celestials. However, Captain Carter and her team still tried to make it through. Byrdie built a spacecraft that would be powered by one of the shards and hopefully facilitate their passage. However, this method did not work, and the shard burned away.
Then, Storm tried an old Asgardian spell where she used the second shard to summon the Bifrost to the fifth dimension. Surprisingly, the shard still did not give passage and collapsed in on itself. This left the team with their third and last shard and a final chance to try and make it to the Watcher.
Kahhori realized that the only person who had made it on their own to the Watcher's realm was the Infinity Ultron, whose story was featured in season one of the show. The team decided to use an Infinity Ultron from one of the dormant apocalyptic timelines, reasoning that they could use one of the TVA's reset charges to prune the timeline if necessary.
Peggy still remained unsure about this plan. She was not concerned about using Infinity Ultron; rather, she was worried that her quest to find the Watcher was putting her friends in danger.

What happened after Captain Carter went after the Infinity Ultron in What If...? season 3 episode 7?
Acting on her worries, Peggy decided to take the last shard of the Watcher's realm and meet the Infinity Ultron alone. However, she was taken away by the Eminence to the fifth dimension before she could share her plan with the synthezoid.
Byrdie, Storm, and Kahhori traced Peggy's footsteps to the Infinity Ultron's planet, where the synthezoid recounted what had happened. He offered to help them reach Peggy and fused the last shard with his own body and the Infinity Stones. After gaining the ability to see all realities, the Infinity Ultron powered Byrdie's ship and set them on a course to the Watcher.
