Episode 2 of Worst Ex Ever, titled Betrayed by the Badge, talks about the crimes of Jerry Ramrattan—a man who impersonated a police officer to date a woman named Seemona Sumasar. When Seemona found out about Jerry Ramrattan's lie, he went on to s*xuallly assault her and then embroil her in a fake case, turning her life upside down.
Jerry Ramrattan pulled off a devious deception, then went on to frame his ex-girlfriend
When Seemona Sumasar - a single mother, financial analyst, and restaurateur from New York City - met Jerry Ramrattan, she believed she had met a law officer. Jerry ran a private investigation firm in New York but lied to Sumasar, telling her he was a detective of the NYPD.
The couple dated for two years before a phone call revealed Jerry's true identity to Seemona. When she confronted him about his lies, the man turned violent and proceeded to r*pe Seemona. She filed a complaint to the police against Jerry Ramrattan and he was arrested. However, Jerry was let go after posting bail. That is when he devised a complex conspiracy that upturned Seemona's life.
The twisted man framed Seemona Sumasar in a string of made-up robberies, leading to her arrest and a jail term of seven months. Jerry used his experience as a private investigator, and deep knowledge of true crime shows, to create a fake trail of incidents and witnesses.
He coerced four people across Queens and Long Island to testify to the police that they were robbed by a woman matching Seemona's description. Their detailed descriptions, and partial number plate sightings matching Seemona's car, made a solid case for the police to make an arrest, and the judge to sentence her to prison.
She lost her restaurant, her family house, and most importantly her daughter as a result of the false imprisonment.
Jerry Ramrattan was eventually arrested in 2012
There seemed to be no way to link Jerry to Seemona's framing, till a witness confessed that they had been intimidated by Jerry to make the false claims against his ex-girlfriend. This opened a new path for the investigators, who eventually uncovered that the manipulative ex-boyfriend had concocted a devious plan to frame Seemona Sumasar all along.
It was revealed that Ramrattan had a long history of framing people for crimes they never committed. Seemona Sumasar was eventually cleared of all her charges in 2012. However, she sued Nassau County due to the incompetency of the police in handling her case.
Jerry finally received a prison sentence of 32 years in 2012, after being found guilty of ten felony charges, including r*pe, conspiracy, and perjury. During and after his trial, Ramrattan maintained his innocence and even threatened Seemona, telling her, "I'm not done." The masterful manipulator somehow garnered a fan following that claimed his innocence and demeaned Sumasar throughout the trial.
