Joey Lawrence and Samantha Cope are calling it quits two years after they said 'I do' in a wedding ceremony at the Temecula Creek Inn in California in May 2022.
Cope had filed to end her marriage to the Horse Sense actor on August 13, noting that the reason for their split was irreconcilable differences. The divorce filing came two months after they decided to separate, which was listed as June 7.
Along with divorcing Lawrence, the Deadly Daughter actress also noted in the filing that she doesn't want any spousal support from the actor.
Joey Lawrence has an estimated net worth of $250000, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Consequently, she asked the judge to nullify Lawrence's right to ask for spousal support from her.
Moreover, Cope is asking the court to grant her full physical custody of her daughter, Dylan, who is currently 19 months old. While she supports the actor visiting their daughter, she noted in the filing that she must be available to "facilitate her visiting" with an option for Lawrence to take Dylan for two nights once she turns three or older.

Exploring Joey Lawrence's financial struggles amid divorce
Celebrity Net Worth reports that Joey Lawrence has a collection of assets worth around $250,000, which is reportedly on the low side after he filed for bankruptcy in 2017.
Lawrence and his wife at the time, Chandie Yawn-Nelson, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in July 2017 after accumulating a credit card debt worth $132,000, among other unpaid rent, unpaid loans, owed cars, and back taxes.
According to the financial documents included in the filing, the former couple has a monthly expense that is much more than his monthly salary. In the filing, Yawn-Nelson was listed as unemployed, while Lawrence's Freeform TV show Melissa & Joey wrapped up in 2015.
Per the documents, their monthly expenses go up to over $25,000, including a $13,500 rent, two car leases amounting to around $3,000, and others. Overall, with the actor's $6,966 monthly income, their expenses would put them $18,000 deeper in debt each month.
As for their personal property, the filing listed their total assets at around $44,000, which includes household goods and furnishings, holiday decors, exercise equipment, handbags, and jewelry.
They also have three cars, a 2014 Bentley, a 2015 Ford Flex, and a 2016 BMW, but all three have been listed as repossessed.
The initial court documents also noted that the pair had sold some of their furniture, clothes, purses, and accessories to help with their financial troubles.
Selling their second-hand men's and women's clothing via Buffalo Exchange earned them over $4,000 and nearly $2,000 for offloading some of their furniture per the docs.
In the docs, Joey Lawrence said that he only had $8,000 in the bank and $60 in cash at the time of the filing. His bankruptcy claim was settled in 2018, with the trustee presiding over his case reportedly connecting over $75,000 to pay back some of what the couple owed.
However, after paying all his legal fees, there are only over $52,000 left to pay the actor's various creditors, which includes the IRS. His other creditors didn't receive full payment, with some of them, including Capital One, American Express, and BMW, receiving $0 in the settlement.
