FBI: International is a 2021 police procedural series created by Dick Wolf and Derek Haas. The series features the agency's international 'Fly Team' which is based in Budapest and tackles threats to the United States' national security in European principalities.
One prominent supporting player in FBI's Fly Team is a cadaver dog named Tank. Tank is a Giant Schnauzer breed dog who was slated for retirement at the beginning of the series before the original "Fly Team" leader Scott Forrester adopted him.
After Forrester's departure in FBI: International season 3, there was some speculation about whether Tank would be leaving the series as well.
However, on September 6, 2024, TV Line's Matt Webb Mitovich confirmed that Tank would return in the second episode of FBI: International season 4. Tank has remained a regular character on FBI: International since, appearing regularly throughout season 4.
FBI: International's Tank is a Giant Schnauzer
Tank is a Giant Schnauzer who was employed by the FBI as a search and rescue dog. These dogs, also known as "cadaver dogs", often play a crucial role in search and rescue operations due to their advanced sense of smell. The canines pick up on things most people wouldn't notice.
Ever since being adopted by Forrester, Tank has played a prominent role in the Fly Team operations. Tank was a recurring fixture in the Fly Team throughout Forrester's leadership until he was reunited with his fugitive mother in season 3.
This reunion eventually resulted in Forrester leaving the FBI altogether, and going off the grid. With Tank's original owner having left the team, it was unclear what would happen to the dog moving forward. However, as confirmed in the September 6 report from TV Line, Tank remained an integral member of the international Fly Team even under Wesley "Wes" Mitchell's new leadership.
FBI: International cast and characters
Aside from Tank, the show has a diverse cast of characters comprising the federal bureau's international efforts. They are as follows:
Jesse Lee Sofer as Wesley "Wes" Mitchell, the new leader of the FBI Fly Team introduced in season 4 of FBI: International.
Vinessa Vidotto as Cameron Vo, an FBI Special Agent who's a West Point graduate. After Jamie Kellet's departure, she becomes the new second-in-command of the Fly Team.
Carter Redwood as Andre Raines, an FBI Agent with an accountant background.
Eva-Jane Willis as Megan "Smitty" Garretson, a Europol agent who replaces Katrin Jaeger as the liaison to the FBI Fly Team.
Christina Wolfe as Amanda Tate, a Supervisory Intelligence Analyst who heads up the agency's new analyst team.
Luke Kleintank as Scott Forrester, the original leader of the FBI Fly Team. He adopted Tank near the beginning of the series and departs the show in season 3 upon reuniting with his fugitive mother.
Heida Reed as FBI Special Agent Jamie Kellett, who was the original second-in-command of the Fly Team before departing the team for Washington DC in season 3.
Christiane Paul as Katrin Jaeger, a Europol Agent who's a polyglot, and serves as the original liaison to the FBI Fly Team prior to being promoted.
Despite the major cast changes that have occurred throughout the police procedural series, the Giant Schnauzer named Tank, has remained an integral member of the show. The fourth season of FBI: International is currently airing on CBS.
