When and where to watch Lost Monster Files?
The first episode of Lost Monster Files will premiere on Discovery Channel at 10 PM ET/PT, on Wednesday, October 9. This means that users from different time zones will have to stick to the following times to catch the premiere:
Lost Monster Files, in a nutshell, combines history, science, and actual evidence to delve into the veracity of claims surrounding each of the mythological creatures it delves into.
What to expect from Lost Monster Files?
The series is directly based on the work of Ivan Sanderson, one of the biggest names associated with cryptozoology. His case studies include various notes, specimens, audio recordings, and other evidence related to the mythological creatures covered in the series.
The series was created after experts such as scientist Charlie Mewshaw, cryptozoologist Brittany Barbieri, predator experts Troy Lillie and Justin Igualada, and former CIA officer Tracy Walder, were able to gain exclusive access to Sanderson’s work.
Howard Lee, Discovery Networks president, said the following about the series recently, according to TV Insider:
“Ivan Sanderson’s cryptozoology case files are by far the largest of its kind. It’s a treasure trove of fascinating information that the public has never seen before in this capacity – in fact, it’s the first time it will ever be showcased on TV. This series is full of history, science, government secrets, gritty field adventures, and exciting discoveries, topped off by the unexplained – the perfect mix for our audience.”
Combining Ivan Sanderson’s work with modern-day evidence related to these creatures, the team aims to get to the bottom of some of the biggest mysteries that have perplexed people. Sanderson's work had been kept secretly archived ever since he passed away in 1973.
However, the British biologist, generally considered one of the founding fathers of modern cryptozoology, worked extensively in the field of unknown animals. The field has often been described as a mixture of pseudoscience and subculture due to its lack of scientific principles. However, Sanderson used a lot of actual accounts to conduct his research and also worked on various paranormal subjects.
This, combined with the evidence that he was able to unearth, has given his work special significance in the decades following his death. Still, Lost Monster Files is the first time his entire archival work will be delved into, for the mainstream.
While the premiere episode deals with the Abominable Snowman, further episodes deal with the following:
- The Kodiak Sea Monster
- The Wildman of Minnesota
- The Thunderbird of Pennsylvania
- The Ozark Gowrow
Using actual evidence, folklore, and accounts from people who have claimed to spot these creatures, the series attempts to get to the bottom of the truth.
Lost Monster Files will be available on the Discovery Channel starting October 9, 2024.
