Another season of The Boys is over, and fans saw some huge setups taking place this season that will certainly influence some major events that are to come in season 5. At the end of season 4, the titular group saw itself captured by supes in the wake of Victoria Neuman's death and Homelander taking over the country.
However, along with Victorian Neuman's death in The Boys season 4 finale, it also saw her daughter Zoe Neuman be sent to the Red River Home. Some fans might wonder about what that place is. The Red River Home or the Red River Institute is the orphanage where young orphaned supes are sent to grow up.
The Red River Institute has been a part of some really big storylines in the show and even ties up with its spinoff Gen V where one of the main characters hails from the orphanage.
The Red River Institute is a supe orphanage
In The Boys show, the Red River Institute is an orphanage that was founded by Vought International. It's where supes who have lost or been abandoned by their parents are sent, and is not exactly the best environment for a child to grow in as has been seen in the main show and its spinoff.
The Red River Institute was founded in 1965 in The Boys universe so that orphaned supes could have a place to live. It's where supes, who might have developed powers that were deemed "odd" by many, were sent to, and also a place where supes who might have accidentally killed their parents with superpowers were relocated too as well.
Red River Institute plays a massive role in The Boys universe
Red River Institute was originally referenced at the end of season 1. Following Madelyn Stillwell's death at the hands of Homelander, her son was sent to the orphanage to grow up as he was a supe himself too. The character of Victoria Neuman also shares a past with the orphanage as that was where she grew up.
This was revealed in season three when Hughie decided to infiltrate Red River so that he could learn more about Neuman's past. In that season, he learned that Neuman was the secret "head popper" that he and his group had been looking for, and that she was adopted by Stan Edgar with the two forming a close relationship over the years.
However, following her death in The Boys season finale, her daughter Zoe Neuman - who Victoria secretly injected with Compound-V - was also sent to the institute. This seems like a full-circle moment in itself.

Red River plays a part in The Boys spinoff series Gen V
In Gen V, the primary protagonist of the show, Marie Moreau, also hails from the Red River Home. She was put in there as a kid after she accidentally murdered her mom and dad when she discovered her power due to her not being able to control them.
This eventually led her to be sent off to Red River where she spent a better part of her childhood until she was accepted into the Godolkin University for supes.
With Zoe Neuman now being in Red River, it certainly looks like the institute will play some kind of role in The Boys season 5.
However, while fans wait for that, they can check out the entirety of season 4 once more as it is currently streaming on Prime Video.
