Paramount+'s Landman marks yet another collaboration between the streaming service and writer/creator Taylor Sheridan. The series is set in West Texas where the show tackles the big boom that's been taking place within the world of oilfields. The series features a stellar cast, including actors such as Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and more, each bringing something unique to it.
One of the notable cast members in Landman is Jon Hamm. The Mad Men famed actor plays the role of Monty Miller in the show. He is a part of the main cast, and in the show, he owns the company known as M-Tex. Aside from that, Monty has a close relationship with Billy Bob Thornton's character, Tommy Norris.
Throughout the first season of the show, it is established that Monty suffers from some heart issues that are actively ruining his health. This is also further seen in episode 9, which leaves his fate in question.

Landman episode 9 teases Monty's death in the show
Throughout the show, it has been heavily teased that Monty's health is steadily worsening due to the stress of managing a large company. This all comes to a head in Landman episode 9, titled Wolfcamp, where Hamm's oil tycoon spends the majority of his time in a hospital bed. While the episode doesn't outright confirm that he passes away at the end, enough implications for it are made.
The episode sees Tommy Norris' life change massively as Miller makes huge changes to his company from his hospital bed. Monty appoints Tommy as the new Vice President of Operations of M-Tex, making him an important figure in the company and someone who has even more control over its operations.
Aside from that, Monty hires Rebecca as the Vice President of Exploration after she successfully proves herself to him. She does so by handling the accident that took place in episode 1 of the show, which left a few dead. However, that's where Monty's health issues come into play as well.
Not being able to handle the stress of running a company as huge as M-Tex, his heart rate spikes, hinting that the character has suffered a heart attack. However, that's when the episode shifts to Tommy. He receives a call from Cami who tells him some bad news about Monty. So, while Monty's death may not have been shown outright, it certainly looks like he might have bitten the dust here.

The first season of the show is set to end on January 12, 2025, as episode 10 premieres then on Paramount+.
