Bridgerton Season 4 has officially been announced, and as we can already guess, this will be Benedict’s season, which means it's time for him to find his love interest. According to the books, Benedict's romantic interest is Sophie Baek, who has been officially cast. Halo’s Yerin Ha will essay the role of Baek, a maid with a mysterious history.

Sophie’s arrival was hinted at the end of the season 3 finale when Eloise commented on their mother Violet’s masquerade ball. Benedict confirmed to be there, telling his sister he would be present, hiding from eligible ladies behind a mask. As fans who have read the books would know, it is at this ball that Benedict first met Sophie.

Who is Yerin Ha? All about her role in Bridgerton Season 4

Yerin Ha is an Australian actor of Korean origin best known for starring in the Steven Spielberg–produced Halo for two seasons. She made her television debut with a recurring role in the American-French series Reef Break and was cast in the upcoming prequel series of Dune, Dune: Prophecy.

Ha had also starred in the Stan miniseries Bad Behaviour (2023) and was the main cast of the ABC TV series Troppo. She made her feature film debut with Sissy. In 2021, the Casting Guild of Australia (CGA) named her a rising star. Yerin Ha was also a part of the Sydney Theatre Company’s Lord of the Flies.

About Ha's role in Bridgerton Season 4

Yerin Ha is co-lead in Bridgerton Season 4 alongside Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton. Sophie is a mysterious and complicated woman, unlike the other debutantes. She is a victim of tragic events which forced her to spend much of her life working for the most demanding employer in the ton. Her fate will drastically change when she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, where she meets Benedict. Talking about her role, Ha said to Tudum,

“What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome. Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”

The Korean actor added that she felt particularly connected to Sophie, who has been given a Korean surname out of respect for Ha’s culture:

“A name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that’s why changing a name can be so powerful. To make Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering. All credit to Jess Brownell, our showrunner...It’s a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold. It’s amazing what it can do just in a psychological sense. So it means a lot that Jess did that for me.”

Benedict and Sophie’s romance happened in the third book of Quinn’s wildly popular book franchise. However, season 3 of the show had skipped that to focus on Colin and Penelope's friends-to-lovers story.

What do we know about Bridgerton Season 4?

Netflix has already released an official synopsis for its fourth season. It reads as follows:

“The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

No date has been given for the premiere of Bridgerton Season 4. However, based on the current production status, it is expected to be delayed until 2026.
