Fable, the next-generation AI generative studio, is launching Showrunner. Fable offers consumers the ability to employ artificial intelligence to create stories using its tools. In addition, they are able to narrate stories supported by narrative voice, music, visuals, and video effects.
On May 30, 2024, Fable announced a streaming platform that will allow users to make easy AI content with a few prompts. This platform is called Showrunner and according to the company's claim, users can write, animate, and voice episodes of shows it carries.
In his own words, Edward Saatchi, CEO of Fable Studios, characterized Showrunner and called it the 'Netflix of AI.' He said in a statement—
"The next Netflix won’t be purely passive; you will be at home, describe the show you’d like to watch and within a minute or two start watching. Finish a show that you enjoy and make new episodes, and even put yourself and your friends in episodes — fighting aliens, in your favorite sitcom, and solving crimes.”
As of now, viewers can join the waitlist for a free test of the platform, which is supposed to last till the end of 2024 as confirmed by Edward Saatchi.
Everything you need to know about Showrunner
With the help of Showrunner by Fable Studio, users can write, voice, and animate episodes of the shows that are already on the platform. A series of scenes can be made first, all of which can be combined or stitched later to make a full-length episode.
The prompts that will be used can range from a couple of words to 100. The platform will also let its users edit the dialogue, scenes, and everything necessary to make the episode worthwhile.
Edward Saatchi, the CEO of Fable Studios talked about his visions of Showrunner and said—
“The vision is to be the Netflix of AI. Maybe you finish all of the episodes of a show you’re watching and you click the button to make another episode. You can say what it should be about or you can let the AI make it itself.”
In the free testing version, there will be 10 animated shows of various genres and styles, mostly made with the help of AI tools. Users can create their episodes, the best of which will be selected and included in the series catalog, once Showrunner is officially launched. The winners will get a prize and also revenue sharing if a streaming platform picks the show.
Saatchi also briefly talked about how the platform will work, complement viewers, and help them develop their scenes. He said in a statement—
“It’ll understand the core conflict of your episode and develop it with another character or location. Or you can say, ‘I want this specifically to be the next scene.”
According to Saatchi, AI can make better episodes of The Simpsons (1989) in today's world.
The AI model of Fable developed after the public release of open-source AI systems ~ from Stable Diffusion and OpenAI, powers this streaming platform. An AI-generated brief prompt was used by Fable to create nine short episodes of South Park (1997).
Saatchi claimed that it is trained on publicly available data.
The showrunner's official release date has not yet been disclosed.
