Streaming on Disney+ is one of the most highly awaited releases of this year, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, scheduled for December 3, 2024. The series will headline Jude Law as Forceuser Jod Na Nawood and feature an altogether fresh storyline that would give a better cult franchise identity to sci-fi.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford. The show is described as a galactic version of classic coming-of-age adventure films of the '80s, like those produced by Amblin Entertainment.

Bigtime directors on the show include Lee Isaac Chung, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert from Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Bryce Dallas Howard. Here's everything known so far about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

Along the way, in this new dangerous setting, they meet a myriad of allies and enemies that make their journey home a far greater adventure than they ever expected.

Jude Law also teased that the series will be full of Easter eggs and nods for fans, with some of the Star Wars tech dating as far back as the original film.

However, co-creator Jon Watts has also mentioned that this show is aimed at new and old fans of the franchise alike, making it a bit more universal for viewers.

Setting and Timeline

The series is set during the New Republic era, putting it in line with other Star Wars series like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.

While its plot will be separate, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy suggested that Skeleton Crew may be connected to the larger Disney+ Star Wars narrative — a plotline that will eventually find its way into a future Star Wars movie.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew might be a great addition to the Star Wars universe by fusing adventure and mystery with all the things loved about it.

With its amazing cast, intriguing plot and rich connections to the greater lore of Star Wars, fans have much to look forward to when it releases this December on Disney+.
