What is The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga about? Everything to know

The official synopsis of the documentary on Netflix reads:

"In this bizarre true-crime tale, an Elvis impersonator's conspiracy theory sets off a feud that spirals into an attempted presidential assassination."

The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga unravels an improbable coincidence/conspiracy that led to the failed assassination attempt on former President Barack Obama. At the focal point of this documentary was an Elvis impersonator, a former janitor named Paul Kevin Curtis, who in April 2013 faced false accusations of mailing ricin-laced letters to then-President Obama and other high-ranking U.S. officials.

It was a sting operation that brought to light the conspiracy against Curtis orchestrated by James Everett Dutschke, a martial arts instructor with whom he had long-standing bad blood. Dutschke later pleaded guilty and received 25 years in federal prison.

It sheds light on the rivalries and personal conflicts right at the hub of this national scandal. This was the saga that proved how from a small-town feud it grew into an attempted assassination and a black market organ trafficking conspiracy. Documentation of in-depth probed-whose, what, where, and why is exhaustive.
