All six episodes of Investigation Alien were released on Netflix on November 8, 2024. Alien conspiracy theories and ufology have been very popular with a large section of people all over the world. The recent docuseries on the platform has reignited a spark among the alien enthusiasts.

While not based on one single true story, Investigation Alien follows the lifelong research of the journalist and ufologist George T. Knapp, and explores several cases of alleged alien or UFO sightings across the globe.

Steered by Knapp, the series covers a substantial geographical distance, spanning across the USA, Mexico, Brazil, and even Europe, to investigate cases of alien sightings. The witnesses of the alleged sightings are interviewed, and the implications of the reported sightings are examined by Knapp in the series.

As the trailer of the series shows, the series is about Knapp unearthing and investigating several cases in which witnesses are sure they spotted aliens or UFOs. As a result, much of the series is based on incidents that have been reported in various media outlets over the years.

For instance, USA Today reported on January 11, 2024, that UFO enthusiast Jeremy Corbell shared the footage of a UFO sighting that showed a jellyfish-like entity flying over a military base over the Persian Gulf. The sighting was reportedly captured on an undisclosed day and time in 2018.

In the clip shared by Corbell, the flying object seemed to be moving at a constant speed. Now known as the “jellyfish” UFO in popular parlance, this case finds mention in Investigation Alien as Knapp looks into the deeper significance of the occurrence.

Knapp’s search takes him to Tampico, Mexico. The coastal region is not harmed by hurricanes and the residents of the place attribute it to the fact that some alien species, residing in the water, protect them. VICE published a report on November 16, 2022, which carries the following statement from a 71-year-old local:

“I immediately said, ‘they [aliens] are going to protect us.’ And this is what I believe and trust: that they exist, that there is a base.”

Knapp looks into this case as well, pondering whether the water bodies across the world can be a good place for the aliens to take shelter in, given the fact that most of Earth’s surface is covered by water.

There are other cases on which Knapp’s case for the existence of aliens is based on. For instance, he brings up the well-publicized incident of unusual lights that were seen over Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix on March 13, 1997. Cases like this make the docuseries an intriguing watch.

Investigation Alien makes the case that aliens exist

Across its six episodes, the docuseries uses ample interviews, anecdotes, and documents to attempt to prove that aliens do exist and have been seen by people on Earth from time to time.

Knapp goes so far in Investigation Alien to suggest that the bigger question right now is what the aliens want with human beings, since known evidence has already proven their existence.

Knapp also remarks in the docuseries how he has faced numerous hurdles in his lifelong quest to discover the truth about aliens and UFOs. Obstacles have come both from governments and private entities, he claims. However, as the docuseries makes it clear, the veteran ufologist will not stop his search easily.
