Episode 6 of What We Do in the Shadows season 6, titled Laszlo's Father, was released on FX on November 11, 2024. The episode deals with the titular character, Laszlo’s father, who comes back from the underworld in the form of a ghost to meet his son. The interaction between the two is full of surprises and forms the bulk of the episode.

The episode also deals with a subplot that involves Nandor and Nadja. The duo suspects that their neighbors are shape-shifters. Their concern grows by the minute, and Nadja finally goes to attack them.

By the end of the episode, Laszlo discovers that his father has not come back from hell just to reconcile with his son. As he gets to know about his sinister intention, he uses his soul-catcher machine to capture the soul of his father and store it in an hourglass.

The first hint of Laszlo’s father’s arrival is caught by Nandor and Nadja, who feel that something weird is happening in their mansion. As they observe strange happenings in and around the house, suddenly the figure of Lord Roderick Cravensworth materializes.

It soon becomes clear that Laszlo and his father never had a pleasant relationship. In fact, the former hints that he had to suffer humiliation and abuse at the hands of the latter. However, the senior Cravensworth states that he is here to make things alright with his son and be the father he could never be when they were alive.

Initially, Laszlo is quite skeptical, warning others not to fall for his father’s easy charm and amiable temperament. However, the ghost of his father soon establishes himself as a favorite with the others, and soon the other vampires start looking up to him as a dignified and interesting character.

As the episode progresses, Laszlo starts to feel for his father and thinks that perhaps giving him a second chance would not be the worst idea. Soon, father and son reconcile in what is one of the most poignant scenes of What We Do in the Shadows season 6.

However, their reconciliation is short-lived. As the episode nears its end, it becomes clear that Laszlo’s father has come back from hell not so much to spend time with his now-vampire son but to essentially ‘steal’ his body. In other words, he wants to possess his son’s body to re-live the earthly and carnal pleasures he so misses in hell.

As Laszlo realizes this, he shoots at his father with his soul-catcher machine. In what is a Freudian moment, the son has to kill his father to save his own soul (considering vampires have souls, of course).

Robinson becomes especially fond of Laszlo’s father. The latter spoils him with attention and affection. Having grown up without a father on his own, Robinson immediately becomes a fan of Lord Roderick Cravensworth.

Midway into episode 6 of What We Do in the Shadows season 6, Robinson shows Lord Cravensworth his carefully collected and meticulously guarded assemblage of Funko Pops. To his surprise, the old man actually encourages Robinson to talk about his collection.

At the end of the episode, after Laszlo has captured his father’s soul in an hourglass, he lies to Robinson, telling him that the old man had to urgently go back to the world of ghosts and that he conveyed his best wishes to Robinson before leaving. Laszlo hands the hourglass over to Robinson, asking him to protect it at all costs. The latter stores it in the safe containing his Funko Pops.

Towards the beginning of the episode, Nandor accidentally discovers a window in the house. Through the window, he also discovers that they have neighbors on that side of their house. Soon, Nandor and Nadja begin surveilling their neighbors with a telescope.

The duo, after some deliberation, reaches the conclusion that their newly discovered neighbors are shape-shifters. Nadja even goes to attack them. However, it goes horribly wrong, and the owner of the house comes to lodge a complaint.

It turns out that the owner of the house is running an illegal Airbnb operation in her house. The vampires decide not to alert the authorities about it, provided she lets them enjoy a weekend at her house every month.

As Guillermo, Nandor, and Nadja have a pleasant time in the owner’s house, the final shots of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 episode 6 reveal that the owner herself is a shape-shifter indeed.
