What We Do in the Shadows season 6 had a three-episode premiere on FX on October 21, 2024. The premiere shows the vampire group of Staten Island at their frivolous best as they go through a series of adventures and misadventures that generate quite a few laughs.
As episode 1 of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 opens, the vampires suddenly remember that there is another vampire, Jerry, in the house who has been under a “super slumber.” They also remember that they were supposed to wake up Jerry on New Years’ Eve, 1996. However, they forgot to do that.
Season 6, which is scheduled to be the last of the series, opens with this hilarious gag and is soon followed by other comic adventures, all culminating in Guillermo losing his memory by the end of episode 3.
What We Do in the Shadows season 6 premiere ending: Guillermo’s memory has been wiped out
Chaos is a constant in the vampires’ residence on Staten Island. In episode 3 of season 6, Colin Robinson suddenly arrives at the conclusion that the other vampires are trying to get him out of the house. He decides to forge an alliance with Nandor via the enigmatic means called Sleep Hypnosis.
Colin is initially successful in his plans. However, his precedent of employing the Sleep Hypnosis prompts the other vampires to use the method in hilarious and self-serving ways. As a result, there is soon utter chaos in the place, with Nandor even setting fire to parts of the house under the hypnosis.
Guillermo, in a bid to put an end to this state of disorder, goes to the Baron, who records the following chant in Guillermo’s phone:
“Ye shall forget everything ye know and everything ye have known.”
When Guillermo plays this recorded bit to the sleeping vampires, they forget their animosities. However, they also forget everything, including who they are. This Guillermo remedies through the help of the Guide, who arrives just in time.
However, the What We Do in the Shadows season 6 premiere ends on a rather funny note: Guillermo ends up accidentally listening to the recorded bit from his phone while going through some podcast episode before his sleep. As a result, he too ends up forgetting everything.
As episode 3 comes to a close, the viewers are almost taken on a nostalgic ride as Guillermo, his memory now emptied out, approaches Nandor seeking a job at the house. Nandor says to the camera that he would soon restore his friend’s memory the next day, though.
Who is Jerry?
Jerry is a fellow vampire who once lived with the others. He entered into a state of super slumber, and the others forgot to wake him up in 1996. Once he is woken up, he is disappointed to see that the once-feared vampires are now silly creatures content with minor adventures.
The What We Do in the Shadows season 6 premiere makes it clear that under the leadership of Jerry, the vampires once aspired to conquer new lands and bring them under their grasp. However, with his absence, such a plan never saw the light of day.
Jerry starts reprimanding his fellow vampires for having turned into soft creatures. Guillermo, as always, comes to the rescue. In order to eliminate Jerry’s negativity around the house, he pairs him with the Guide. The latter is instantly impressed by the authoritarian Jerry, and together they again plan to conquer territories.
What are the vampires up to?
The first three episodes of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 show that the vampires have new preoccupations. Laszlo, for instance, is now fascinated with the prospect of infusing life into a corpse, in the fashion of Victor Frankenstein. Eventually, it is Colin who achieves the feat.
Nadja and Nandor have their own plans. They put on human appearances and go to Guillermo’s workplace. There, they ruin Guillermo’s superiors’ reputation and performances, at times even killing them. As a result, the vacancies increase, and Guillermo keeps rising higher and higher up the corporate ladder.
The next episode of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 will be released on October 28, 2024.
